You know someone is gonna buy a 3090 only to play CSGO at 720p

Now the next question will be, if they're revealed in October 8 and 28, when will they launch? The CPUs may hit retail the same month, but I doubt the cards will arrive before November.

I forget but I think AMD said something along the lines of RDNA 2 will come out before consoles? If that's true, it could release before November 10th as Series X will be launching on the 10th.

Maybe, yeah. But it wouldn't be the first time AMD has done a paper launch.

Among Us and Fall Guys killing it on pc. Such graphically demanding games to test the Amps Nvidia and Radeona2.

And Minecraft, CS:GO, Dota 2 and many others.

Turns out that gameplay > graphics isn't only true when it comes to Nintendo.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

43% increase in performance for a 23% increase in power consumption, comparing the RTX 3080 with the RTX 2080 Ti.

I mean, Nvidia once made the public believe the 7900 to 8800 jump was out of this world (100% more performance... for 80% more power consumption) but at least back then they used the same manufacturing node to do so.

Would AMD be lauded too if they had released, say, a 375 W 700 mm2 monolith back in 2014 to blow Maxwell out of the water?

If I had to guess and give AMD the benefit of doubt instead of assuming they are throwing in the towel, maybe the reason for the lateness is because they are having yield problems. As far as I know and could be wrong, this is the first time they are trying out a monolithic 80CU GPU for consumers.

I just hope that they release the 3080 "competitor" this year and not let it slip into next year where it has to compete with Nvidia's refresh.

There's been a lot of rumors regarding the performance of Big Navi, but not a single one about yield problems.

But it doesn't really have to be a very big chip. The Navi 10 chip of the 5700 series is 251 mm², double that and it would still be smaller than the Ampere chip of the 3080. Of course, it's not that simple and the added ray tracing hardware will also take more space.

If they target the refresh models, it'll be over for them. I hope it won't be the case, because as much as some folk don't seem to care for high end card competition, you, me and some of us in this board do care.

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

So pay up motherfuckers you belong to "V"

Yea that's true. It's just annoying as to how late it is. Like if you have a competitive product, what would be the reasoning to not steal your competitors hype? They had almost a month to prepare since Nvidia did that countdown and they have 3-4 weeks since the event to come out with something to give people a reason to wait for Big Navi. Instead, they are like, go ahead Nvidia, do your thing, I'll just showcase my product a month later. Have all dem sales.

It's not like they even need to commit to a release date. They could have showed it off in September and been like, releasing in November/December and people would be fine with that if it's that good.

Pretty much. Having a high end product is great for social media and helps with brand recognition. AMD went from laughing stock with FX to Hot Damn with Ryzen and not because Ryzen is a budget product (even though it does have excellent value in the budget tiers as well). Ryzen is great and has such a strong presence because it's competitive against Intel in every price point and exceeding them in quite a few areas. It brought them from a penny stock to 81 USD stock. If Ryzen ended up being another budget cpu, most people wouldn't have cared unless you really hate Intel.

It's why RTG needs to produce an answer even for the high end and maybe Big Navi is just that but man, this launch is as annoying as the consoles.

Speaking of Big Navi...

Out in the wild perhaps? This one sounds like the 3070 competitor.

"Some labels have been attached to the board, such as ‘Typical Samsung 16Gb‘ indicating the memory type used for this board. This means that each module is 2GB. The leaker claims that the card has 3+3+2 modules (8 in total). This would imply this model has a 256-bit memory interface.

Another label says ‘Full ???? Typical XT A0 ASIC’. The XT variants are usually reserved for the Radeon RX series, meaning that this should be a sample of a gaming card, not a Radeon Pro."

Is that a tower CPU cooler on that GPU? JFC.
