JEMC said: The SUPER variants were not expected to debut this year, but as an Ampere Refresh in 2021 (possibly with higher-clocked GDDR6X memory). The Ti variants, on the other hand, are rumored to launch after Big Navi. Maybe waiting would be worth it? |
I was starting to cave and put myself on notice for the 3080. Now I'm torn again. Hate this uncertainty.

And it's all Nvidia's fault. They could simply come out and say that they won't release any other card in the high end segment in the next quarters (to keep some ambiguity as to when exactly they could come), and end some of the rumors we're seeing right now.
It would even help them sell more cards to hesitant buyers like yourself.
Please excuse my bad English.

There is no way Nvidia releases a 3080ti this year.

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Totally agreed. If past trends are anything to go by, they'll release it around spring or perhaps the beginning of Q3 2021. I haven't saved up enough for my new rig yet, so they better not!
hmmn, if Nvidia decide to release the 3080ti sometime before summer 2021, then I might just wait a few months more if that's how it's going to be. Dumb af move on their part though, because what's the point in releasing a Ti variant so close to Big Navi, when we all know that Ti model is gonna cost more than Navi, and likely consume more power. We're practically just paying that bit more for some 20gb VRAM at that point.

I know some folks are having timid issues with the 3080's VRAM, but I'm honestly not that bothered, mainly because it's one gig less than my Aorus 1080ti, but it's a new memory architecture, making it more efficient with it's memory than my 1080ti, and costing the same price as when I first bought the 1080ti. I'm in the same boat, but I feel like I'll grab the 3080 nearly next year, grab the new hw that'll pair nicely with it and then bide my time with it until the 4000 series, and if that series isn't as good of a leap as the 3000 series, then I'll simply replace my 3080 with a cheaper variant, because by the time the 4000 series comes out, the 3000 series variants should be cheaper in some areas, meaning I'm not much at a loss, and I'll still be able to roll with the new technology in next gen games. I'm a bit like Yuri though. I've waited this long, and I do kinda want to mess with the RT in games and other things sooner, rather than much later on. |
The main thing making me consider getting a 3080 is after selling the 1080ti I could be able to get one for around £400 which is not much for potentially keeping my system going until 2024/2025 before needing a full overhaul. I'd basically be spending a similar price for a new console but have a system with far better performance for most of the generation and that sounds appealing to me. Either way now I probably won't decide until mid to late September at the earliest.
Something might happen tomorrow from Team Red.
Big Navi maybe? Zen 3? Troll?

Sounds like that Amalur was a crapshoot of a remaster. I honestly didn't see much visual improvement, and the lighting/bloom still looks insanely bright.
