My only concern is that 4K at 27" may be a very high pixel density. But then again, I'm typing that on a 25" 1440p so...

27" @2160Pequates to 163 pixels per inch. Not bad.

25" @1440P would net 116 pixels per inch.

Personally I want a 32" non-curved or larger 2160P display with 120hz and preferably IPS over VA. - Perfect display doesn't exist for me yet.

What worries me from this connector is: why the hell does Nvidia want a 600W capable connector?!

Disclaimer: I'm quite sure that it's the extra amperage what Nvidia is going after, but it's still shocking.

The connector seems to have better contacts and durability which should be good for reliability.

Plus there were GPU's starting to trickle out like the MSI lightning series which would come with 3x8-Pin PCI-E cables... Which often meant the inside of a case looked like a birds nest with all the cabling, this essentially consolidates the lot into a single cable.

It should also resolve some of those dodgy PSU cabling where a single PSU cable splits out into twin 6+2 pin cables with low gauge wiring...

Intel is also pushing out a revised spec to the 12v rail on PSU's, so there could be some changes coming to a PSU near you in the immediate future.

I think it's a good change, but if nVidia is placing an "nVidia tax" that requires PSU licensing fees, then it won't be a good thing.

GN has Confirmed: 12-Pin Connectors For Ampere, Likely OEM Focus

https://www.gamersnexus.net/news-pc/3605-hw-news-nvidia-rtx-3080-12-pin-cable-ddr5-spec-intel-i9-10850k

Alright maybe Nvidia is crazy but as you shouldn't need a new PSU according to the report and the partner cards shouldn't come with the 12 pin, maybe they are half a step crazy? But if it's OEM focused, then it won't be care worthy either way... I am willing to believe GN more so than a few other sources since their confirmations have been fairly on point.

Well, the 3090 is rumored to pull 400W already, so just imagine what a Titan of full Ampere will be pulling...

LG's 144Hz 27-inch 4K IPS gaming monitor is now available

https://www.engadget.com/lg-4k-ips-ultra-gear-gaming-monitor-104539945.html

"The company touts the model as the “world’s first 4K IPS 1ms GtG monitor,” since the 1ms GtG model it succeeds doesn’t have 4K resolution. Its spec sheet also lists a 144Hz refresh rate, DisplayHDR 600 support and 2 HDMI ports. It sadly doesn’t come with a USB-C port, but it does feature NVIDIA G-SYNC compatibility" " it’ll set you back at least $800"

Slowly getting there loll

That monitor looks good, and it's a Freesync Premium monitor that makes it compatible with G-Sync.

My only concern is that 4K at 27" may be a very high pixel density. But then again, I'm typing that on a 25" 1440p so...

I would have been worried several years ago (still remember how utterly unreadable 1600x1200 on our 17" CRT was), but since UI scaling is a thing now, it should be okay. Plus, not running in native resolution shouldn't make that much of an effect visually with such a high pixel density...

For the record, this is set to become my future monitor, should be amply enough for my needs: https://www.alternate.de/LG/27GL850-B-Gaming-Monitor/html/product/1564507?

"Fresh air is drawn in from the bottom and the interior, and pushed out through the back edge, but the intake grills on the actual fans are covered with a plastic film, to channel the airflow over the heatpipes and the components. There’s no way to take out those covers without breaking the plastic pins that keep them in place, and thus voiding warranty."
"I couldn’t take them out and test the impact on this unit, but other reviews mention a 7-10 degrees decrease in CPU and GPU temperatures once that’s done, as well as a slight increase in performance."

They did so before already with the TUF Gaming A15:

ASUS even claims that they are wrong with their assessment, claiming the final design had the "best overall thermal performance".

Also a way to keep the cheaper AMD laptops from stealing the thunder of their own Intel laptops...

Urghh these companies... They are already gimping AMD CPUs by shipping them with mid-tier GPUs but also this nonsense? Smh

I kinda agree the game has been on the store for 4/5 years? If you wanted to buy it with discount you had plenty of options

I was more referring to people who had not yet bought it on Steam, which of course, there always would be.

Minecraft for example has been out for just shy of of 11 years now, yet it's always gaining new customers on a yearly basis. It hasn't stopped, and neither would customers for RL, only now your only chance on PC is via just one storefront now, while with consoles you have 3 options to choose from.

The point I'm getting at here is that a choice has been taken away from the consumer, which arguably isn't a good thing. Notice how Viv stated the people that already owned it on Steam, and not those that had yet to buy it there?. Just a tad disingenuous.

Here's another Big Navi rumor that... discredits most of the previous ones?

AMD Radeon RX ‘Big Navi’ Enthusiast RDNA 2 Graphics Card Rumored To Feature 16 GB VRAM – Final Design Not Yet Finished, Expected Launch in Q4 2020 In Reference Only Flavors

https://wccftech.com/amd-radeon-rx-big-navi-enthusiast-graphics-card-16-gb-vram-q4-2020-launch-rumor/

A whole bucket of rumors surrounding the AMD Big Navi GPU which will power its next-gen Radeon RX enthusiast graphics cards has been posted by Chiphell leaker, wjm47196. The leaker who has a history of leaks which turned out to be legit has talked about how the development of the flagship RDNA 2 graphics card is shaping up and what we can expect in terms of specifications and overall performance.

(...)

The first bit covers the specifications and in that regard, the Big Navi graphics card is stated to get 16 GB of VRAM capacity. That's double the VRAM buffer of the existing Radeon RX 5700 XT graphics card which is based on the Navi 10 GPU. It is not mentioned what type of memory architecture will be utilized but the leaker does mention a 384-bit bus interface that would point out to a GDDR6 interface rather than HBM2(e).

(...)

When it comes to the development progress of the Big Navi GPU, the first validation sample was sent recently to Shanghai for driver development. While this happens, AMD engineers situated in the United States have yet to visit the manufacturing and test labs based in China to evaluate the final performance of its Big Navi GPU. This means that all previous rumors on the performance of Big Navi graphics card hold no truth at all and were simply speculation.

As for the manufacturing and design process, AMD is stated to not have finalized its Big Navi PCB design yet. The toolkits for manufacturing are also allegedly not ready yet which once again points out to inaccurate performance numbers in the past. AMD is expected to send out its first design resources for the Big Navi graphics card's PCB in the next two weeks to the major AIB partners.
