Monday news, the long part two:

Run a space station in Spacebase Startopia, coming October 23
https://www.pcgamer.com/run-a-space-station-in-spacebase-startopia-coming-october-23/
After waiting for a follow-up to management sim Startopia for almost 20 years, it's finally happening. Realmforge Studio's Spacebase Startopia will be open for business on October 23. In the meantime, there's a new video, above, that breaks down what you'll be doing as a space station administrator.

Legends of Runeterra is getting multiple new game modes very soon
https://www.pcgamer.com/legends-of-runeterra-is-getting-multiple-new-game-modes-very-soon/
Legends of Runeterra is the best CCG on PC (or mobile for that matter). I sometimes feel like I'm shouting into the void when I say that, but months after I reviewed it I'm still playing the League of Legends card game spin-off almost daily. But, starting in June and extending to July and onwards, there's going to be a lot more reasons to play. Big updates are coming to Legends of Runeterra, starting with two major new game modes, seasonal events with cosmetic rewards, and, of course, new cards.

Satisfactory is coming to Steam Early Access on June 8
https://www.pcgamer.com/satisfactory-is-coming-to-steam-early-access-on-june-8/
The first-person factory building game Satisfactory went into early access on the Epic Games Store in March, and did very well for itself, selling more than 500,000 copies in less than three months. In October, Coffee Stain Studios designer Nathalie Verwei praised the decision to launch exclusively on the Epic Store, saying that the financial security it provides means developers "can just focus on making a good game," and that complaints about it come from "a loud minority."
Still, there was never any doubt that Satisfactory would make its way to Steam eventually—Coffee Stain said so in February, for one thing—and today the studio announced that it will happen on June 8, for real and no fooling. (That clarification was apparently necessary because, as community manager Jace Varlet says in the video below, "we troll you guys a lot, but we're not trolling you with the release date.")

Call of Duty: Warzone finally has Duos
https://www.pcgamer.com/call-of-duty-warzone-finally-has-duos/
Earlier this month, Raven Software creative director Amos Hodge said that Duos mode would come to the Call of Duty:Warzone battle royale eventually, after developers "find the right timing and everything else." Apparently they found it, because Activision announced that the paired-up mode is available in the game now.

Rockstar rolls back Grand Theft Auto 4 update that appeared to be corrupting saves
https://www.pcgamer.com/rockstar-rolls-back-grand-theft-auto-4-update-that-appeared-to-be-corrupting-saves/
A fairly beefy Grand Theft Auto 4 rolled out yesterday, restoring a bunch of songs and radio stations that had been removed from the game earlier this year. It should've been good news—Vice City FM, one of the removed stations, "had some proper '80s pop bangers," and we could all use more of that in our lives—but it didn't work out that way.
As soon as the update went live, reports began appearing on both Reddit and in the Steam forums that the update was corrupting save files. At least one redditor said that completely uninstalling the game—including deleting the folder and savegames—and then reinstalling the game and using cloud saves got things back on track, but that's hardly a practical solution.

New Valorant agent Reyna revealed
https://www.pcgamer.com/new-valorant-agent-reyna-revealed/

Factorio 1.0 will come a month early to avoid Cyberpunk 2077
https://www.pcgamer.com/factorio-10-will-come-a-month-earlier-than-expected-to-avoid-cyberpunk-2077/
Factory game Factorio has moved up its release date over a month due to a conflict with the delayed Cyberpunk 2077. After announcing a launch date of September 25th, Wube Software has made the decision to move that up to August 14th. This means fans are getting Factorio 1.0 over a month early.
>> Not that they compete sor the same audience, but good news nonetheless.

Halo community update tracks the obscure cause of Halo 2's worst launch bug
https://www.pcgamer.com/halo-community-update-tracks-the-obscure-cause-of-halo-2s-worst-launch-bug/
Solving bugs in game development is complicated. Solving bugs in game development when your game is actually half a dozen games, ported to PC from three different consoles across two decades, is very complicated. That's the broad thrust of the latest Halo: Master Chief Collection community update, which goes into rare, extensive detail about the process of bug fixing a big game. It's an interesting read that's surprisingly easy to understand even if you aren't a game developer, and serves as a direct response to the unfortunately nasty multiplayer bug Halo 2 launched with.
(...)
Halo 2's PC multiplayer featured a bug that hadn't cropped up on the Xbox, which could cause teleporting projectiles and instant death. It was bad news. And if you distill the cause down to the most basic explanation, all that havoc was caused by a single number: -1.

Halo 3 testing to begin in early June, here are the details
https://www.pcgamer.com/halo-3-testing-to-begin-in-early-june-here-are-the-details/
The test run for Halo 3 on the PC Master Chief Collection is coming in the "first few weeks of June," says the latest update on the MCC's development. While there's no precise date yet, we'll safely assume that's by June 19 or so, otherwise that'd be the last few weeks of June and that's not what they said.

Space Haven is a promising management sim about interstellar vagrants
https://www.pcgamer.com/space-haven-is-a-promising-management-sim-about-interstellar-vagrants/
Released about a week ago, Space Haven is a new base-building management game that takes place on a spaceship. Starting with the destruction of earth (a classic) your crew of civilians using borrowed technology and a loaner ship platform sets out to find a new home for humanity. It's a game that clearly draws from RimWorld, FTL, and Oxygen Not Included to create a pretty heady brew—if a fresh one. It just released into Early Access on May 21, though its initial thousand Steam reviews clock in at 87% positive.

EB Games Australia will issue refunds for Fallout 76 to eligible customers
https://www.pcgamer.com/eb-games-australia-will-issue-refunds-for-fallout-76-to-eligible-customers/
Last year the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission ruled that Australian purchasers of Fallout 76 were entitled to a refund if they had contacted ZeniMax seeking one within seven months of launch. Fallout 76 famously released in a poor state, and in Australia, consumer law protects customers in cases where products are found to be faulty or damaged.
While it's no surprise that international companies might sometimes fall afoul of Australia's consumer law, local retailer EB Games has also acknowledged "that [it] was likely to have misled consumers about their consumer guarantee rights" when it came to Fallout 76's launch.

Cloudpunk's first-person mode is here
https://www.pcgamer.com/cloudpunks-first-person-mode-is-here/
If you enjoy the idea of exploring a cyberpunk city composed of voxels but balk at doing it from a zoomed-out perspective, Cloudpunk's latest update brings a first-person view so you can rub your eyeballs all over neon signs and burning trash cans up close. All you have to do is zoom in until the player model disappears, which activates mouselook (or right analogue-stick look if you're using a controller).

Gang Beasts becomes self-published as Double Fine Presents winds down
https://www.pcgamer.com/gang-beasts-becomes-self-published-as-double-fine-presents-winds-down/
In 2014, Double Fine got into publishing with Double Fine Presents, created to help indie developers get their projects out the door. Then Microsoft started throwing cash around, acquired Double Fine and left the fate of its publishing arm up in the air.
Tim Schafer called the situation "complicated" last year, saying that having a publisher inside another publisher might not make business sense. While Double Fine hasn't committed to its publishing arm's future, or lack of future, since then, judging by a new blog post from Gang Beasts developer Boneloaf, it does look like it won't be around for much longer.

Looks like there's some listings for the rumoured Ryzen 5 3600XT, Ryzen 7 3800XT and Ryzen 9 3900XT. The prices currently are m €319 for the Ryzen 5 3600XT to €499 for the Ryzen 9 3900XT. I do wonder if they can actually sustain some of those boost clocks this time around at 4.7/4.8ghz. If they can, I can see these being worth while for some people since they should be very competitive with Intel at 5.3ghz. If they can't and it's just another 4.3-4.4ghz. Meeeeeeeeeeeeeh

Apple also doubles the price of their RAM upgrades for their 13 inch Macbook pro in case people needed more reason to not buy Macbooks:

People will still buy Macs. Maybe one day, when it's no longer cool to use a Mac, they'll come down to their senses and see how much has that cost them and what they've been missing.

Let's hope those AMD chips can actually sustain the claimed clocks, tho i recall they launch updates to the codes of their processors after launch to help them reach the claimed clocks, but I don't recall seeing any review that put that to test.

Meanwhile, Intel is ready to fight back:

Rumor: Intel’s Next-Gen 10nm Willow Cove Cores Bring 25% & Golden Cove Cores Bring 50% IPC Increase Over Skylake CPUs – 7nm Ocean Cove With 80% IPC Uplift Over Skylake

Personally speaking and with my X370 motherboard, I could never reach the advertised 4.6Ghz boost. I think if I remember correctly, some can get close if they overclock a single CCX and disable SMT and etc but that's like meh. Could also be that I am running on X370.

We will see about Intel though. I am planning my next major upgrade when DDR5 comes out since Intel and AMD should have new sockets around that time as maybe PCI-E 5.0 as well. So if Intel makes a really good case with their CPUs, I may go back to Intel again but their 10nm has been pretty horrible so far.

After I told my dad that he should get used to his really old games not running well on his new laptop they release C&C Remastered and Anno History collection. Those are his 2 favorite games. Can't wait for them to announce a remaster of Sim City and Transport Tycoon next week to make me look like a complete fool.

OG C&C runs fine with an external DVD reader

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Doesn't run fine without one.

If there's one game I wish they would remaster or make a sequel to, it would be Lord of the Rings, Battle for Middle Earth 2. Shit was so damn good!

Which SimCity are we talking about? The fourth runs ok.

I'd said it before, but I'd love to see MSoft doing an HD remaster/remake of the original Zoo Tycoon like they did with Age of Empires II HD.

If you want to see a preview of some next generation fuckery, look no further than Ubisoft!

"Ubisoft announced a somewhat unusual pricing scheme for the upcoming Trackmania Nations reboot last week: The base game will be free, but full access to the track editor (which is a major part of Trackmania's appeal) costs $10 per year, while full-on "Club Access," which includes admission to special racing leagues, exclusive skins, and that sort of thing, is $30 per year."

"Actually it's not a subscription model but an access to the game for a limited time. You pay for having access to the game for one period and that's it," a Ubisoft rep wrote. "When the time is over, you have to buy the game again for the time that you want to access it again."
