MODS/EMULATORS

Doom mods overload: BorderDoom 1.0, Doom Exp V1.9 & Total Chaos are available for download
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/doom-mods-overload-borderdoom-1-0-doom-exp-v1-9-total-chaos-are-available-for-download/
Doom fans, here are three mods that you really need to play. Normally, we’d keep this type of articles for the weekend. However, and since we’ll be covering RDR2 extensively this weekend, we decided to share these mods with you today.
The first mod is a total conversion that runs on the GZDoom source port. This mod, called Total Chaos, is a survival horror set on a remote island known as Fort Oasis. Its latest version adds three new chapters, new weapons, new enemies and new inventory items.
Doom Exp is the second mod. This is basically an xp/rank/reward/mobility modification with visual/sound/text notifications. Its first version came out last year and this latest version focuses on the shoulder cannon (which now has three different fire mode types).
The third mod is a Borderlands-inspired mod. As its title suggests, BorderDoom aims to bring gameplay elements from Borderlands to Doom. Therefore, you can expect weapons with random properties including: damage, number of bullets fired, firing speed and accuracy. Moreover, the mod adds rechargeable shields. It also introduces levels to the game’s monsters, thus making them stronger.

Here is Red Dead Redemption 2 with Reshade Ray Tracing GI & AO Effects
https://www.dsogaming.com/videotrailer-news/here-is-red-dead-redemption-2-with-reshade-ray-tracing-gi-ao-effects/
Even though Rockstar has not added any real-time ray tracing effects, PC gamers can still get a taste of Ray Tracing effects. And, as you may have guessed, this is possible thanks to Pascal Gilcher’s Reshade. In case you weren’t aware of, this post-process solution can improve a game’s Global Illumination and Ambient Occlusion effects. Therefore, you can find below a video showcasing this mod in action.
(...)
Do note that Red Dead Redemption 2 is already a GPU-heavy title. Thus, I don’t know whether it’s possible to play this game with this Reshade Ray Tracing mod, even at 1080p. Still, it will give you a glimpse at what a ray traced version of RDR2 could look like.

An Age of Mythology definitive edition or reboot is still a possibility
https://www.pcgamer.com/an-age-of-mythology-definitive-edition-or-reboot-is-still-a-possibility/
There's now only one game in the Age of Empires series that isn't getting a definitive edition, but that might not be the case forever. Age of Mythology is a fan favourite and got an HD remaster in 2014, and it doesn't sound like Microsoft is done with the spin-off.

Hearthstone dev hints Mogu Fleshshaper may be rebalanced after the next expansion
https://www.pcgamer.com/hearthstone-dev-hints-mogu-fleshshaper-will-be-rebalanced-after-the-next-expansion/
Something's always OP. Part of the fun of Hearthstone is finding those cards and decks that, at a certain point in the meta, are degenerate. But the question is how degenerate is too degenerate? Sometimes cards are so powerful—or at least seem so powerful—that they become the season's version of 'that one damn shotgun in CoD I'm always getting killed with.'

Rockstar is offering cash rewards for finding Red Dead Online security flaws

Have you ever been improperly banned from Grand Theft Auto Online for "false positive" cheating, even though absolutely no cheating actually took place? Well here's the fact, Jack: Rockstar doesn't believe you. It doesn't believe you so much that if you can prove it—more precisely, if you can "successfully identify a reproducible incorrect ban in Grand Theft Auto Online"—it'll give you $10,000.

Anthem adds new Mass Effect-themed skins for N7 Day

Tomorrow is November 7, and November 7 is N7 Day, the annual event in which we all come together to celebrate the magic of Mass Effect and try not to be sad about, well, pretty much everything at this point. To mark this year's remembrance, BioWare has added new Mass Effect-themed cosmetics to its latest game, Anthem, including four Javelin skins, a new wrap, and a new emote.

The 3rd Night is a free adventure game that evokes classic survival horror
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-3rd-night-is-a-free-adventure-game-that-evokes-classic-survival-horror/
Like Resident Evil 7, free indie horror The 3rd Night manages to translate the feel of third-person survival horror to the first-person perspective. It's not quite as comprehensive as that mostly brill game, however, lacking combat, and length, and without any real scares to speak of. But it's still an atmospheric, authentic adventure game that feels convincingly like something you might have played in the late '90s.

Red Dead Redemption 2 trainer lets you play as an eagle, wolf, or any other model in the game
https://www.pcgamer.com/red-dead-redemption-2-trainer/
Traveling Red Dead Redemption 2's expansive map on horseback is great, but wouldn't it be nice to have a bird's eye view of the world? Literally? A trainer for RDR2 singleplayer has arrived, and it lets you switch from Arthur's boring human body into an eagle, a wolf, and (with a bit of file editing), any other model in the game. (...) If you understand the risks, here's how it works. You can find Lenny's Simple Trainer here. Download the files and install them in the game's root directory. When you start up Red Dead Redemption 2, you'll hear a few loud beeps, which indicate the trainer is installed. Once you launch into your singleplayer game, pressing F7 will turn you into an eagle, and F8 will turn you into a wolf.

https://www.dsogaming.com/news/enhanced-blood-textures-mod-for-skyrim-special-edition-makes-the-game-gorier-and-bloodier-than-ever/
Modder ‘dDefinder’ released a pretty interesting mod for Skyrim Special Edition. As its title suggests, the Enhanced Blood Textures mod makes Skyrim Special Edition gorier and bloodier than ever. Thus, this is a must-have mod for those that want more “blood fidelity” in their fights.
Going into more details, the mod provides a bloodier combat experience with higher resolution and detailed textures. Furthermore, it comes with some additional features such as killmove animation spasms and blood drops when health is low. It also packs damage based blood amount, blood pools, and green blood for spiders and oil for machines.
Moreover, the mod adds blood spurts from the neck area after decapitation and throat slits killmoves. It also introduces pools of blood that will react differently on hard or soft surfaces.

https://www.pcgamer.com/superliminal-the-perspective-warping-puzzle-game-comes-out-next-week/
The perspective-warping puzzler Superliminal made a good impression when we previewed it earlier this month: Lauren found it a little more conservative than she expected, especially when compared with the 2014 tech demo (it's been in development for quite awhile), but overall the combination of increasingly abstract first-person puzzle designs and dry, Portal-style humor showed a lot of promise.

Overwatch 1 and 2 will eventually merge into a single client, Jeff Kaplan says
https://www.pcgamer.com/overwatch-1-and-2-will-eventually-merge-into-a-single-client-jeff-kaplan-says/
Overwatch 2 is kind of an odd beast. It's a sequel—you can tell because of the "2"—but it feels a lot more like an expansion. It's still early in development so a lot of details have yet to be nailed down, but Joanna said in her BlizzCon preview that Overwatch 2's new story mode "looks and feels identical to Overwatch's gameplay," but for the addition of level progression. All the heroes, maps, modes, and cosmetics coming to Overwatch 2 will be playable in the original game, too.
But it's not just a matter of maintaining two games simultaneously: The long-term plan, game director Jeff Kaplan told Kotaku, is to bring them together as one.

WoW Classic and Call of Duty have led a better-than-expected quarter for Activision Blizzard
https://www.pcgamer.com/wow-classic-and-call-of-duty-have-led-a-better-than-expected-quarter-for-activision-blizzard/
While revenues are down compared to the same period last year, Activision Blizzard's third quarter was better than the company had expected thanks to strong sales from the World of Warcraft and Call of Duty franchises.
Net revenues for the third quarter were a mere $1.28 billion, improving on the forecast of $1.10 billion. However, that is down from the same period in 2018, which saw $1.51 billion in net revenues for the company.
According to a financial report published Thursday, Activision Blizzard's main profit drivers were Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, which grew "sharply" compared to Call of Duty: WWII, and World of Warcraft Classic. The WoW Classic launch saw "the biggest quarterly increase to subscription plans in franchise history," which is a remarkable achievement for a 15-year-old MMO.
>> Now you know, $1.28 billion are just "mere". For God's sake...

Steam is having a Singles' Day sale
https://www.pcgamer.com/steam-is-having-a-singles-day-sale/
November 11 is Singles' Day because 11/11 is made entirely of ones, a tradition that started in China as a jokey excuse for blind dates and parties where singletons could meet. It's become a day that's more about shopping thanks to e-commerce site Alibaba using it as an excuse to throw a sale, and now it's the world's biggest online shopping event, with almost $US 31 billion made last year.
Steam are having their own Singles' Day sale right now, with a mix of singleplayer and multiplayer games being discounted. It's a pretty eclectic selection. For instance, you can get Divinity: Original Sin 2 for 45% off, a bundle of Telltale's Batman games for 67% off, or Dragon Ball Xenoverse for 80% off.

You can now change your Steam Library view back to small mode
https://www.pcgamer.com/you-can-now-change-your-steam-library-view-back-to-small-mode/
The new Steam Library has been out for a couple months now, and while it adds some very nice new features, not everyone is happy with its presentation. Small mode was something Chris Livingston said he missed back when we asked how everyone was getting on with the new format, and he'll be pleased to learn that it's back, at least in Steam's beta branch.
If you haven't opted into that, you can do so by opening Settings, and clicking the "Change…" dialog button in the Account section next to Beta Participation. From there, choose Steam Beta Update in the dropdown menu.
Once you've opted in and updated your client, hit the "View" dropdown and assuming all is in place, you'll be able to select the "Small Mode" option, which will turn Steam into a wee little box at the bottom of your screen. If you don't like it, go back to the same dropdown and you'll notice a "Large Mode" option that will take you back to way things were.
The update makes a number of other fixes and changes that you can read all about in the patch notes.

https://www.dsogaming.com/news/metal-gear-solid-4-is-now-fully-playable-from-start-to-finish-on-the-pc-via-custom-rpcs3-build/
Back in August, we informed you about Metal Gear Solid 4 running on the PC via the Playstation 3 emulator RPCS3. And today, we are happy to report that the game is fully playable on a custom version of RPCS3, from start to finish.
Furthermore, the game’s performance has been significantly improved. While there are still some drops below 60fps in some scenes, most of the game can now run with 60fps. For comparison, the original PS3 version is running at 30fps. Moreover, this custom version of RPCS3 fixes numerous bugs and glitches.

First-person fan remake concept demo for the first Silent Hill game is now available for download
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/first-person-fan-remake-concept-demo-for-the-first-silent-hill-game-is-now-available-for-download/
Zero Trace Operative has released a first-person fan remake demo of the original Silent Hill game. Do note, though, that this is a concept demo featuring the game’s “beginning nightmare” and nothing more. It’s also really short (about 3-5 minutes) and there are no plans to turn this demo into a full game.
Moreover, there are some changes here and there due to the first-person perspective. Still, I’m pretty sure that Silent Hill fans will find it interesting. It’s not as impressive as Silent Hills, obviously, however it’s a cool tribute to this classic horror game.
>> It's 550MB is size and can be downloaded from itch.io.

Field of View mod released for Red Dead Redemption 2, also adds support for ultrawide 21:9 monitors
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/field-of-view-mod-released-for-red-dead-redemption-2-adds-also-support-for-ultrawide-219-monitors/
The first FOV mod/tool for Red Dead Redemption 2 is finally available. This tool allows you to adjust your in-game FOV, and we are pretty sure that a lot of PC gamers will find it useful.
This tool also removes black bars from the in-game cutscenes, cinematic cameras, shops and a number of other areas at 21:9 and wider resolutions. Furthermore, it removes pillarboxing from the photo mode.
Do note that this is a Cheat Engine script, so your anti-virus may falsely flag it. We’ve scanned this file and it’s clean, so there is no malware here.
>> It's available from here.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is on PC now so naturally it's time to make nude mods
https://www.pcgamer.com/red-dead-redemption-2-is-on-pc-now-so-naturally-its-time-to-make-nude-mods/
Now that Red Dead Redemption 2 is finally out on PC, we can actually explore the west any way we like with the help of mods. It's only been a few days, so there's plenty of room for the modding community to grow. As we all know (and as I've made a fuss about in the past) one of the first orders of business is to see what kind of pistols these cowboys are packing beneath the belt. Thanks to a mod called Lenny's Simple Trainer and a reporter after mine own heart at Eurogamer, we've already got a jump on that process.

Super Mario 64 Land, romhack for Super Mario 64, is now available for download
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/super-mario-64-land-romhack-for-super-mario-64-is-now-available-for-download/
Kaze Emanuar, best known for the Super Mario Bros remake in Super Mario 64 and the VR mod for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, has released a new romhack for Super Mario 64. This new romhack brings the world of Super Mario Land to this Nintendo 64 Mario game.
Super Mario 64 Land features 32 new levels, 70 different areas, 75 music tracks, 8 new bosses and 10 new powerups. While we are not certain whether this romhack can work on the original Nintendo 64 console, PC gamers can enjoy it by using the N64 emulators.
As with all romhacks, you’ll need the original ROM in order to play it. Do note that we will not allow links to pirated content, and we’ll delete such comments. With this out of the way, you can download the Super Mario 64 Land romhack from here. You can also use this patcher in order to install the romhack.

You will soon be able to play the entire single-player campaigns of Crysis & Crysis Warhead in co-op
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/you-will-soon-be-able-to-play-the-entire-single-player-campaigns-of-crysis-crysis-warhead-in-co-op/
Crysis is one of our most beloved first-person shooters out there. And today, we are happy to report that PC gamers will be able to play its entire single-player campaign mode in co-op thanks to this upcoming mod.
The Crysis Co-op mod originally came out in 2016 as a proof of concept. Since then, the team has revised its approach, started fresh and achieved the most ambitious and technically complex Crysis mod.
The new 2019 version of this mod will allow you to play the single-player campaigns of both Crysis and Crysis Warhead in co-op. The mod will also replace Gamespy with Steam. This basically means that it will add support for the Steam master server, so that you no longer have to connect to servers through direct IP addresses and removing the necessity of using VPN software. The downside here is that you’ll need a Steam version of Crysis Warhead, otherwise the mod will not work.

Devil May Cry 5 has a co-op mod
https://www.pcgamer.com/devil-may-cry-5-has-a-co-op-mod/
Devil May Cry 5 has a limited kind of online co-op in the form of its cameo system, which only activates in certain levels where more than one of the game's protagonists is present, seamlessly inserting another player in that role. Thanks to this system's presence it's proved possible for modders Dante and Raz0r to hack online co-op into most of the campaign missions, and Bloody Palace mode as well. Up to three players can fight together as Nero, Dante, and V—though having multiple instances of the same character is apparently impossible.
This mod also enables some of the graphics options normally only visible in cutscenes, and has a floating pause menu that won't interrupt your co-op buddies. It's a nice piece of work all round.

Every now and then, Ubisoft likes to make a little noise about Splinter Cell. It's a bit like Sam Fisher stubbing his toe as he sneaks through the shadows behind a large bank of 60s-era supercomputers: You definitely heard something, but when you go to check, there's nothing there.

Modder ‘winedave’ has released a brand new texture pack for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. This 8K Texture Pack features new landscape textures that were not included in his previous texture packs. Moreover, these textures were created with 3D Scans for optimal results.
As a bonus, I’ve also included below all the other texture packs from winedave. Basically, you’re looking at a texture overhaul that weights around 5.5GB.
Going into slightly more details, the Septentrional Landscapes mod improves the game’s landscape textures. The other packs also improve the textures for beach, shore and ocean floor textures. Moreover, they improve Blended Roads textures, snow textures, mountain textures, and Mossy Whiterun Stonefloor.
For those that want to reduce the size of this overhaul, the modder has provided 2K and 4K versions of his textures. However, we suggest downloading the 8K versions for the best visual results.

That will not be the case for the upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, however, as EA said that it doesn't want spoilers to leak out before everyone has a chance to get their hands on it.

Fortnite gets a custom Remembrance Day island to memorialize Canada's war dead
https://www.pcgamer.com/fortnite-gets-a-custom-remembrance-day-island-to-memorialize-canadas-war-dead/
November 11 is observed as Remembrance Day by Commonwealth member states as a time to commemorate the sacrifices of soldiers who died in the line of duty. But memories fade, and as the horrors of industrial-scale conflicts grow distant, it becomes increasingly difficult to keep younger generations, who have never experienced it, interested and invested.
To help reinvigorate that connection with history, the Royal Canadian Legion commissioned Remembrance Island, a custom map available in Fortnite Creative Mode. The map, made at no cost to the Legion by Fortnite creator Jadan Allen, has no combat: Instead, players can explore a deserted beachhead, trenches, barracks, headstones, and fields of poppies, and read 30 informational plaques leading to a cenotaph reminiscent of the Vimy Memorial in France.
