Mini LED is an expensive tech, so I wouldn't be surprised if the price is even higher than its predecessor.

Also, I don't like that it still needs a fan.

The ASUS VG27AQE, with both Blur Reduction and Variable Refresh Rate is also interesting.

Fan isn't really a problem for me since I'm wearing headphones all the time anyway. It's supposed to be similarly priced as the previous version so I'm hoping for 3000 but preparing mentally for 3500 or more.

Well, the panel for the monitor hasn't gone into production yet, so I don't think they'll decide on the price until they find out how many viable panels they get from each batch.

I just realized I might not have enough time for the upgrade. Borderlands 3 is due September, but the new monitor probably won't make it until then. I might have to play the best game of 2019 without my new gear :(

https://www.pcgamer.com/total-war-three-kingdoms-sold-a-million-copies-in-a-week/
Total War: Three Kingdoms is now the fastest-selling game in the series, shifting a million copies in its first week. This follows it knocking Rome 2 off the concurrent player top spot last week, when over 160,000 people were playing it. The peak player count is now over 190,000.
"We knew we had something special with Three Kingdoms but the response from players, old and new, has exceeded all expectations,” said Rob Bartholomew, chief product officer. “We’re seeing a lot of ‘best Total War ever’ comments out there. We’re very proud.”

FarOut Widescreen is a mod that adds proper ultra-widescreen support to the classic Far Cry
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/farout-widescreen-is-a-mod-that-adds-proper-ultra-widescreen-support-to-the-classic-far-cry/
As you may have noticed, we don’t usually share stories about ultra-wide monitors, however, this time we are making an exception as we are talking about the classic and beloved Far Cry; a game powered by CryEngine that put Crytek on the map.
Created by FarOutCry, FarOut Widescreen adds extreme and authentic widescreen support to the first Far Cry game. What this ultimately means is that the mod supports from 4:3 up to 48:9 aspect ratios, with weapon textures being scaled correctly rather than stretched like vanilla FarCry.
The mod also comes with advanced features such as floating the HUD to your main screen, or positioning it manually. Furthermore, FarOut Widescreen comes with an optional fix for the AI wallhack issue in FarCry 1.4, optional letterboxing support for play at extreme ratios, optional (and unaffiliated) SilentPatch as well as a binocular bug fix.

Total War: 1942 turns Rome into World War 2
https://www.pcgamer.com/total-war-1942-turns-rome-into-world-war-2/
Across the years, Total War has flung everything from packs of dogs to undead dragons into battle, but Creative Assembly has yet to dabble in an era that lets us finally field the humble tank. Total War: 1942, an overhaul for the original Rome, fixes this omission, adding not just tanks, but planes, battleships and little blokes with rocket launchers.
V1.0 launched earlier in the month, letting players start a campaign or historic battle as one of 18 playable factions. Not yet playable is the 19th faction, which is the United Nations, confusingly. It wasn't established until after the war, but in this parallel World War 2, it's what holds the Allies together.

'Red Faction Evolution' may have just leaked via the Nvidia Ansel website
https://www.pcgamer.com/red-faction-evolution-may-have-just-leaked-via-the-nvidia-ansel-website/
E3 surprises are often leaked by retailer databases or blurry photographs, but it's not every day that a new game is leaked by a screenshot tool. But that may have happened with Red Faction Evolution, which users on the Metacouncil forum spotted on Nvidia's Ansel compatibility page. Ansel is Nvidia's tech for taking 360 degree screenshots in games, adjusting post-processing, resolution, and so on. It's a high-powered photo mode that quite a few PC games support these days, including, supposedly, Red Faction Evolution.

The latest Fable 4 rumor doesn't hold up, even if the game is probably real
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-latest-fable-4-rumor-doesnt-hold-up-even-if-the-game-is-probably-real/
A Fable 4 announcement (or Fable IV, I guess) is likely on the way, but the game's appearance on Microsoft's Mixer streaming website shouldn't be taken as confirmation. Following the discovery of a listing for the game on Mixer, which was originally shared by a Reddit user, many have concluded that Microsoft has slipped up by adding it to its database too early.
But the Mixer database actually draws from player.me, an online tool for streamers with a largely crowdsourced database. At the time of writing, Fable IV has four 'players' on player.me, and the listing also appears on Twitch.

Phoenix Labs announced that Dauntless, the recently released free-to-play co-op action RPG, surpassed 6 million players within its first week – doubling its player count since the PC Open Beta. As the press release reads, Phoenix Labs has worked tirelessly to expand player capacity, improve connectivity, optimize queue loads and iterate on player feedback.
Dauntless hit several milestones in its first week. Players worldwide logged over 20 million hunts, surpassing 15 million hours played while 60% of hunting parties consisted of cross-platform players. Together Slayers defeated over 13 million Behemoths.
Phoenix Labs put together an infographic outlining these week 1 accomplishments and others, which you can find below.

Black Ops 4 in the Humble Monthly Bundle now has Zombies, too
https://www.pcgamer.com/black-ops-4-in-the-humble-monthly-bundle-now-has-zombies-too/
Earlier this month the Humble Store led off its latest Humble Monthly Bundle with Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Battle Edition, a version of the game that includes standard multiplayer modes and Blackout battle royale, but no Zombies. The Battle Edition normally goes for $40 on Battle.net, so $12 for that plus whatever else the bundle ends up dropping is undeniably a good deal.
Now it's an even better deal, because now it's got zombies too: Humble Bundle announced today that the Battle Edition in the monthly bundle has been upgraded to the Standard Edition, which includes the Zombies mode along with multiplayer and Blackout, plus a handful of bonus items: A Black Ops outfit for all specialists, the Sitting Bull gesture, and the Black Ops Skull calling card, emblem, sticker, and tag.

If you're still here, this marks the start of the GOG summer sale, which is notable for a few reasons. BioShock Infinite has landed on the service for the first time, the flawed but still incredibly beautiful 2013 first-person game. It's 75 percent off during the sale, and includes all its DLC, including Burial At Sea. This basically finishes the story of Infinite, which ends abruptly in the game game, and is an unmissable trip back to Rapture.

Microsoft's E3 showcase isn't going to be all about the consoles this year: the PC is getting some love too, including details on how Xbox Game Pass is going to work on PC. It's officially coming, and it's going to be at least somewhat different from the version available on consoles. "We designed a service specifically for the needs of PC gamers and PC game developers," Xbox head Phil Spencer wrote in a press statement today. "It’s called Xbox Game Pass, just like the original, but it’s a new experience that we are building together with the PC community."
The basics are the same, starting with a library of more than 100 games from publishers including Sega, Paradox, Bethesda, Deep Silver and Devolver. You'll be able to play as many of those games as much as you want for a monthly fee, with new games added every month, and Microsoft's own games will also be included right when they're released.

It's brilliant.
Super Smashwatch, created by Reddit user ajfis3, is a pretty significant overhaul, turning Overwatch into a 2D fighter where players get active shields, air dodges, double jumps and three lives. It's got the fundamentals. There's even the exaggerated knockback, along with little touches that emulate its inspiration.

Rather than hosting one big E3 press conference, EA is running a string of livestreams on Saturday, June 8 at its EA Play event. Topics will include Apex Legends, Battlefield 5, EA's sports franchises, The Sims 4, and, of course, Respawn's upcoming Star Wars game, Jedi: Fallen Order.

Creator of fake Battlefield 1942 Steam game apologizes, says it was a 'bad joke'
https://www.pcgamer.com/this-upcoming-steam-game-is-actually-just-a-shameless-rip-off-of-battlefield-1942/
It doesn't take a genius to realize that the Steam page for Tank Battlegrounds, a "first-person shooting game set in World War II," is actually just Battlefield 1942. (...)
Update, 5/29/2019, 1:30 pm PDT: After writing this story, the creator of the fake Battlefield 1942 Steam game apologized and explained it was all a "bad joke" to get publicity. They've since changed the name of the game from Tank Battlegrounds to Metal War, removed Battlefield 1942's trailer and screenshots, and changed the game description to an apology.

Iron Maiden, the band, has filed a trademark lawsuit against Ion Maiden, the game
https://www.pcgamer.com/iron-maiden-the-band-has-filed-a-trademark-lawsuit-against-ion-maiden-the-game/
Ion Maiden is a 2018 first-person shooter indebted to the genre classics of the '90s. Iron Maiden is a British heavy metal band best known for its 1982 album The Number of the Beast. You can probably see where this is going: the names attached to these two different things are similar, and feathers have been ruffled.
>> I'm honestly surprised it took them that long.

Starbase will let you destroy everything however you want
https://www.pcgamer.com/starbase-will-let-you-destroy-everything-however-you-want/
It used to be pretty exciting to see a game with a fully destructible environment, but that seems restrained compared to what stellar MMO Starbase promises with its exceedingly detailed destruction system. Watch ships get picked apart in the trailer above.

Halo Reach's campaign co-op and Firefight running on dedicated servers will be a huge improvement

"Firefight matchmaking will be hosted on dedicated servers and use a new asynchronous network model. Co-op Campaigns and Firefight have always run on a synchronous model where clients have to wait for the host to simulate their actions and send them back before they can be observed by the client. This can result in a sense of sluggishness for off-host players. Reach Firefight in MCC will use an async model which should result in a much smoother and more consistent online experience."

Cultist Simulator devs announce Book of Hours, a narrative card game for spooky librarians
https://www.pcgamer.com/cultist-simulator-devs-announce-book-of-hours-a-narrative-card-game-for-spooky-librarians/
Back in January, Cultist Simulator designer Alexis Kennedy mused about a standalone expansion for the narrative card game, one set in a library and a bit more laid back than its apocalyptic predecessor. From that tweet it's grown into full game, Book of Hours, the latest in what Weather Factory is calling the Secret Histories setting.

Here is something really interesting for all Gears of War fans out there. Microsoft has just announced that Gears 5, as well as the Definitive Editions for Age of Empires 1, 2 and 3, will be officially coming to Steam.
>> Great news! But they would be even better if they also launched the Ultimate Edition of the first game and Gears 4, games that launched on the Windows Store.

Yay! Shame I already have AOE1 on Windows Store because my experience with the Windows store has been pretty terrible. Now I'll be able to get all the AOE games on steam, and more importantly AOE4 probably!

Let's wait until they show us what they've done with AoE4 before getting to excited about it. Hopefully they'll show something this E3.
