Thursday news, part two:
Early Access MMO Worlds Adrift is shutting down soon
https://www.pcgamer.com/early-access-mmo-worlds-adrift-is-shutting-down-soon/
After two years in Early Access, Worlds Adrift is shutting down for good. It was announced way back in 2014, promising a sandbox in the sky crafted by the community. Since 2017, players have been able to explore the Early Access version of that sandbox, building their own airships, using their grappling hook like an inebriated Spider-Man and occasionally murdering each other. Unfortunately, it's not managed to hook enough people to carry on.

According to trademark filings, the promising and short-lived battle royale game Radical Heights could see a revival from Squanch Games, the studio co-founded by Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland in 2016.
First noticed by sleuthing fan itsGerth on the Radical Heights subreddit, Squanch Games quietly acquired the Radical Heights trademark from developer Boss Key Productions in August 2018. After a recertification process with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the updated trademark was fully ratified on May 7.

https://www.pcgamer.com/ea-play-livestream-schedule-leads-with-jedi-fallen-order/
Rather than hosting one big E3 press conference, EA is running a string of livestreams on Saturday, June 8 at its EA Play event. Topics will include Apex Legends, Battlefield 5, EA's sports franchises, The Sims 4, and, of course, Respawn's upcoming Star Wars game, Jedi: Fallen Order.
Creator of fake Battlefield 1942 Steam game apologizes, says it was a 'bad joke'
https://www.pcgamer.com/this-upcoming-steam-game-is-actually-just-a-shameless-rip-off-of-battlefield-1942/
It doesn't take a genius to realize that the Steam page for Tank Battlegrounds, a "first-person shooting game set in World War II," is actually just Battlefield 1942. (...)
Update, 5/29/2019, 1:30 pm PDT: After writing this story, the creator of the fake Battlefield 1942 Steam game apologized and explained it was all a "bad joke" to get publicity. They've since changed the name of the game from Tank Battlegrounds to Metal War, removed Battlefield 1942's trailer and screenshots, and changed the game description to an apology.

Iron Maiden, the band, has filed a trademark lawsuit against Ion Maiden, the game
https://www.pcgamer.com/iron-maiden-the-band-has-filed-a-trademark-lawsuit-against-ion-maiden-the-game/
Ion Maiden is a 2018 first-person shooter indebted to the genre classics of the '90s. Iron Maiden is a British heavy metal band best known for its 1982 album The Number of the Beast. You can probably see where this is going: the names attached to these two different things are similar, and feathers have been ruffled.
>> I'm honestly surprised it took them that long.
Starbase will let you destroy everything however you want
https://www.pcgamer.com/starbase-will-let-you-destroy-everything-however-you-want/
It used to be pretty exciting to see a game with a fully destructible environment, but that seems restrained compared to what stellar MMO Starbase promises with its exceedingly detailed destruction system. Watch ships get picked apart in the trailer above.
Halo Reach's campaign co-op and Firefight running on dedicated servers will be a huge improvement

"Firefight matchmaking will be hosted on dedicated servers and use a new asynchronous network model. Co-op Campaigns and Firefight have always run on a synchronous model where clients have to wait for the host to simulate their actions and send them back before they can be observed by the client. This can result in a sense of sluggishness for off-host players. Reach Firefight in MCC will use an async model which should result in a much smoother and more consistent online experience."

https://www.pcgamer.com/cultist-simulator-devs-announce-book-of-hours-a-narrative-card-game-for-spooky-librarians/
Back in January, Cultist Simulator designer Alexis Kennedy mused about a standalone expansion for the narrative card game, one set in a library and a bit more laid back than its apocalyptic predecessor. From that tweet it's grown into full game, Book of Hours, the latest in what Weather Factory is calling the Secret Histories setting.
