Going by 2080 vs 1080, that's around 40% for more than 2 years between them...not exciting at all.

And they are sugar-picked benchmarks too.

Yeah, that and the "definitely 4k 60fps" speech isn't helping them either. They need to show results across the board, rather than just picking 1-4 AAA games that clearly favor their cards already.

The article has benchmarks of 12 games, plus 3D and VR Mark scores.

But we'll see how real they are on the 19th.

Just 12 games at that, and they also look cherry picked as well. I'm not going to entertain the idea that they are being legit and not pulling any mirrors with what they are doing with these cards.

Not going to deny that those benchmarks can be (and probably are) "enhanced", but a lot of reviewers use less than 12 games for their articles, some of them even less than half.

The latest version of the Denuvo anti-tamper tech has been cracked
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/the-latest-version-of-the-denuvo-anti-tamper-tech-has-been-cracked-2/
It appears that the latest version of the Denuvo anti-tamper tech that has been protecting the latest PC games such as Yakuza 0, Monster Hunter World, Dragon Quest XI and Shadow of the Tomb Raider has been cracked. A certain hacking group was able to crack F1 2018 which uses the latest version of the Denuvo anti-tamper tech. Since this version, which some call Denuvo 4.9, has been successfully cracked, this hacking group may also crack some other triple-A games that were safe all this time. This also means that Denuvo will have to adjust its code for its anti-tamper tech in order to prevent these hacks in a new version of it.

This No Man’s Sky mod completely disables auto-aim, allowing for more challenging combat
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/this-no-mans-sky-mod-completely-disables-auto-aim-allowing-for-more-challenging-gunplay/
Modder ‘trevix’ has released a new mod for No Man’s Sky that completely removes its auto-aim functionalities from on foot and space firefights. As a result of that, and according to the modder, the combat will now be more engaging and fun, specially on space.
As the modder noted, space combat will now be considerably harder as players will really have to aim on the marker. On the other hand, things are not that difficult on foot as it now feels like most first-person or third-person shooters, though players will have to properly anticipate movement when their target is on the move.

This upcoming mod turns Borderlands 2 into Superhot, and it looks amazing
https://www.pcgamer.com/this-upcoming-mod-turns-borderlands-2-into-superhot-and-it-looks-amazing/
Borderlands 2 and Superhot are both excellent shooters, for very different reasons—one is a colourful FPS with a bajillion guns and cool enemies, the other is a more minimalist, focused affair that's all about timing and careful movement. A mod that combines the two should be out in the "next few days" and, from the trailer above, it looks like a brilliant mash-up.
Superhot's key mechanic is that time only moves when you move, and when transplanted into Borderlands 2 that means being able to jump over bullets in slow motion, dodge massive machine gun fire, and vault over enemies' heads before popping them in the back.

Yesterday I wrote about how, despite being otherwise gorgeous and fun, Battle for Azeroth has some big problems with its gear system. For the last few weeks, the WoW community has been very vocal about these issues, and today game director Ion Hazzikostas is taking to the Warcraft subreddit to respond to these concerns.
You can check out the thread for yourself, but we'll be rounding up Hazzikostas' answers to the most pressing questions as he posts them and sharing them here to make it all a little easier to read, sorted by topic.

Judging by James, Chris, and Tyler's impressions, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's battle royale mode, called Blackout, sounds like a lot of fun—but it's not without problems. Many players have complained about team-killing, and argued that being able to pick up your teammate's loot after shooting them in the back just encourages people to go rogue. Treyarch is listening, and says that it's one of many issues it's set to address during the beta.

Murkmire is a new chunk of story DLC coming to The Elder Scrolls Online that will let players visit part of the Black Marsh, home of the Argonian lizard-people. Jump to about the 13.30 mark in the video above and you'll be able to see what that looks like in action. The new DLC includes the settlement of Lilmoth, which will be familiar to readers of the Elder Scrolls novels by Greg Keyes, and looks as swampy as you'd hope.

COLINA: Legacy is an indie tribute to classic survival horror
https://www.pcgamer.com/colina-legacy-is-an-indie-tribute-to-classic-survival-horror/
The trailer for COLINA: Legacy opens in a room that reminds me of the Lake View Hotel from Silent Hill 2, which is a good way to pique my interest. Developed by indie studio Chance6, this is a survival horror game that's explicitly old school, as becomes obvious the moment you see the flashlight play over a puzzle seen from a third-person perspective. They've also drawn inspiration from escape rooms for its puzzle design, which is an intriguing concept.

Voxel-based MMO Boundless, formerly known as Oort Online, has finished its four-year stint in Early Access.
It's a bit like Minecraft, but more colourful, and more alien. You'll be gathering resources, building, and fighting enemies, but you'll also have to contend other players. There’s been a lot of controversy surrounding loot boxes over the past year which led to Belgium's Gaming Commission deciding that loot boxes from some games violate their country's gambling regulations.
According to Eurogamer, it now looks as though more countries may have to take a closer look at their own practices as 15 gambling regulators from across Europe—including one from the United States—have entered an agreement which will see them looking more closely at “unlicensed, third-party websites” that encourage “illegal gambling linked to popular video games.”

Those of you thinking about getting one of Nvidia's new Turing cards should take a look at this, specially if you also plan to overclock them:

NVIDIA Segregates Turing GPUs; Factory Overclocking Forbidden on the Cheaper Variant
https://www.techpowerup.com/247660/nvidia-segregates-turing-gpus-factory-overclocking-forbidden-on-the-cheaper-variant
While working on GPU-Z support for NVIDIA's RTX 20-series graphics cards, we noticed something curious. Each GPU model has not one, but two device IDs assigned to it. A device ID is a unique identification that tells Windows which specific device is installed, so it can select and load the relevant driver software. It also tells the driver, which commands to send to the chip, as they vary between generations. Last but not least, the device ID can be used to enable or lock certain features, for example in the professional space. Two device IDs per GPU is very unusual. For example, all GTX 1080 Ti cards, whether reference or custom design, are marked as 1B06. Titan Xp on the other hand, which uses the same physical GPU, is marked as 1B02. NVIDIA has always used just one ID per SKU, no matter if custom-design, reference or Founders Edition.

We reached out to industry sources and confirmed that for Turing, NVIDIA is creating two device IDs per GPU to correspond to two different ASIC codes per GPU model (for example, TU102-300 and TU102-300-A for the RTX 2080 Ti). The Turing -300 variant is designated to be used on cards targeting the MSRP price point, while the 300-A variant is for use on custom-design, overclocked cards. Both are the same physical chip, just separated by binning, and pricing, which means NVIDIA pretests all GPUs and sorts them by properties such as overclocking potential, power efficiency, etc.

When a board partner uses a -300 Turing GPU variant, factory overclocking is forbidden. Only the more expensive -30-A variants are meant for this scenario. Both can be overclocked manually though, by the user, but it's likely that the overclocking potential on the lower bin won't be as high as on the higher rated chips. Separate device IDs could also prevent consumers from buying the cheapest card, with reference clocks, and flashing it with the BIOS from a faster factory-overclocked variant of that card (think buying an MSI Gaming card and flashing it with the BIOS of Gaming X).

All Founders Edition and custom designs that we could look at so far, use the same -300-A GPU variant, which means the device ID is not used to separate Founders Edition from custom design cards.

GOG is giving away four classic oldies and some 'validation'

If there's one thing I've learned from years of reading Garfield, it's that Mondays are bad. This particular Monday is good, however, because on this Monday, GOG is giving away four classic oldies.
Shadow Warrior Classic Complete, Stargunner, Bio Menace, and Tyrian 2000 aren't the newest games on GOG (or, you know, in general) and the original Shadow Warrior is, well, sort of racist. But if you haven't picked some or all of them up previously, you're not going to beat the price.

Linus Torvalds, the creator and principal developer of the Linux kernel, is taking a break from overseeing its development to work on correcting his "unprofessional" behavior towards others.
Torvalds made the announcement in an open letter to the Linux community shared through the Linux Kernel Mailing List (LKML). In it, he acknowledged that he is "not an emotionally empathetic kind of person," and that his rough attitude may have driven talented developers away from Linux. He also apologized for his "flippant attacks in emails" that were sometimes personal.

Xbox 360 emulator Xenia now supports DirectX 12, first Halo 3 DX12 screenshots revealed
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/xbox-360-emulator-xenia-now-supports-directx-12-first-halo-3-dx12-screenshots-revealed/
The development team behind Xenia, the best Xbox 360 emulator, has been making some progress and decided to completely ditch the Vulkan API in favour of DirectX 12. As such, and for the time being, Xenia is now exclusive to Windows 10 and the team has shared the first screenshots from Halo 3 being emulated in this latest DX12 version of Xenia.
The team has made impressive steps towards emulating this title, though it’s not close to being perfectly emulated. Also, the team did not include any framerate counter so we don’t know how the game actually runs on it. Still, and since Microsoft has not announced yet the Masterchief Collection for the PC, this may be the only way PC gamers will be able to experience Halo 3 on their machines.

While Shadow of the Tomb Raider does not officially support mods, modder ‘EzioMaverick’ has released the first one for it. As its title suggests, this Outfit Mod adds one new outfit to Lara’s inventory that players can equip at camps.
As with most mods for games that do not officially support mods, this one also requires Kaldaien’s Special K mod. EzioMaverick promises to release more outfits so I guess someone will create a nude mod soon. I mean, that’s what numerous players are waiting for.
