https://www.pcgamer.com/elite-dangerous-free-update-adds-new-ships-weapons-and-space-mysteries-today/
The free Elite: Dangerous Beyond Chapter Three update was outlined at a community gathering at Gamescom 2018 last week. It's out today, and it adds new weapons, new ships, new mission types, new story details, and new high-level engineers.

From Software explains why it's working with Activision on Sekiro
https://www.pcgamer.com/from-software-explains-why-its-working-with-activision-on-sekiro/
In the wake of its impressive E3 showing, From Software said Activision is giving the studio "much-needed support" on Sekiro's tutorial system. The partnership still strikes me as an odd one, but the Dark Souls studio has opened up on why joining forces with the publisher is the right move.

The Guardian finally speaks in the Destiny 2: Forsaken launch trailer
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-guardian-finally-speaks-in-the-destiny-2-forsaken-launch-trailer/
Destiny 2: Forsaken is now just one week away, and today Bungie began the countdown with the rollout of the D2:F launch trailer. It begins with a recap of the events leading into the expansion—the "Last Stand of the Gunslinger"—before moving on to a closer look at the man responsible, and a hard conversation about what's to be done.

https://www.pcgamer.com/destiny-2-forsaken-patch-notes-and-post-launch-plans-revealed/
Destiny 2: Forsaken won't be live for another week, but the Destiny 2 Update 2.0 patch notes are here right now. There's a lot to catch up on, including changes to character classes and the in-game economy, buffs and nerfs to various exotics, and of course those long-awaited weapon slot changes are finally upon us.

Starflight 3 aims for classic sci-fi storytelling in a new part of space
https://www.pcgamer.com/starflight-3-aims-for-classic-sci-fi-storytelling-in-a-new-part-of-space/
Today, indie developer HumaNature, founded by original Starflight co-creator Greg Johnson, took the first step toward (finally) making Starflight 3 with the launch of an $800,000 crowdfunding campaign on Fig. New species, systems, and planets are planned, but the core gameplay mechanics of the original games will remain: Assemble, maintain, and grow a diverse starship crew, then lead it across a handcrafted galaxy, making friends (and enemies), solving problems, and trying to understand what it all means.

Family Man is a morality tale about owing money to the mob
https://www.pcgamer.com/family-man-is-a-morality-tale-about-owing-money-to-the-mob/
Family Man looks like it could be a very interesting sort of experience. Visually, it's colorful and blocky, like a Minecraft-inspired first-person adventure in a quaint, quiet seaside town. But the actual gameplay, about a man who has 30 days to repay a heavy debt to the mob, is something else entirely.

GTA Online adds HVY Menacer vehicle, extends adversary mode bonus
https://www.pcgamer.com/gta-online-adds-hvy-menacer-vehicle-extends-adversary-mode-bonus/
GTA Online introduced a reworked version of its Hunting Pack Adversary Mode last week, with double RP and GTA$ opportunities. Those same bonuses roll over this week, alongside the addition of the HVY Menacer—a weaponised vehicle fit for blowing things up, and, of course, griefing.

Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay reveal was viewed by almost half a million people
https://www.pcgamer.com/cyberpunk-2077-gameplay-reveal-was-viewed-by-almost-half-a-million-people/
You can finally watch the full Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay demo. I mean, you probably already have. And if you watched it live via CD Projekt Red's Twitch stream the other day, you did so alongside nearly half a million others.

Cyberpunk 2077 damage numbers can be turned off, 'a lot' of HUD settings optional
https://www.pcgamer.com/cyberpunk-2077-damage-numbers-can-be-turned-off-a-lot-of-hud-settings-optional/
The Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay reveal was viewed by almost half a million people. I'm excited, but feel its HUD is a little cluttered in places—not least during its combat sequences. Lucky for me, CD Projekt Red says damage numbers can be turned off and a host of HUD elements will be optional.

Sunless Skies overhauls combat in latest update
https://www.pcgamer.com/sunless-skies-overhauls-combat-in-latest-update/
In his 80-scored review, Chris praised Sunless Sea's "wonderful writing" but struggled with its "especially weak" combat. With this in mind, developer Failbetter Games has now overhauled fight mechanics in its Fallen London series follow-up, Sunless Skies.

There is a potential RTX Benchmark in 3DMark. It's scoring slightly higher than the 1080Ti which would suggest the 2080. However the extremely high clock of over 2000MHz is weird.

So if this is actually a dramatically overclocked 2080 I feel confident in my prediction of the 2080Ti performance.

Denuvo-protected game, Two Point Hospital, has been cracked prior to its official release
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/denuvo-protected-game-two-point-hospital-has-been-cracked-before-getting-officially-released/
It appears that the spiritual successor to Theme Hospital, Two Point Hospital, has been cracked prior to its official release. Two Point Hospital uses the Denuvo anti-tamper tech, however, and mainly due to Unity Engine, crackers were able to bypass it in record time and crack it.

Denuvo says 'there is no uncrackable product'
https://www.pcgamer.com/denuvo-says-there-is-no-uncrackable-product/
Denuvo's digital rights management anti-tamper tech (DRM, as it's most commonly known) is designed to prevent games from being pirated. It's not without its critics, but Denuvo itself now says "there is no uncrackable product".
In conversation with gamesindustry.biz, Denuvo's sales director Elmar Fischer says pirates are often driven by a desire to crack games quickly, and that, unlike the film industry, there aren't clear records relevant to videogame piracy.

Thursday news, part two:

Spelunky 2's first gameplay trailer shows off liquid physics and online multiplayer
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-debut-spelunky-2-gameplay-trailer-shows-off-liquid-physics-and-online-multiplayer/
A gameplay trailer for Spelunky 2, the sequel to our 2013 game of the year, has finally debuted over on the PlayStation Blog, along with an interview with the creator Derek Yu.
If it looks a lot like Spelunky, that's on purpose, according to Yu. "My opinion about sequels is that they are extensions of the previous games, so I want fans of Spelunky 1 to jump in and feel like they’re playing a continuation, both storywise and mechanically," he says.

Bethesda talks Fallout 76 beta and launch: 'no battle plan survives contact with the enemy'
https://www.pcgamer.com/bethesda-talks-fallout-76-beta-and-launch-no-battle-plan-survives-contact-with-the-enemy/
Fallout 76 has a lot to prove as it leaves Steam behind—and Bethesda's head of marketing Pete Hines reckons its launch is unlikely to be straightforward.
Speaking to IGN at Gamescom, Hines suggests the developer is "on the right course" so far as pre-release prep is concerned, but admits some things will come down to trial and error and listening to player feedback.

A bug is causing Destiny 2: Forsaken items to drop before the expansion is out
https://www.pcgamer.com/thanks-to-a-bug-destiny-2-forsaken-items-are-dropping-before-the-expansion-is-out/
The Destiny 2: Forsaken pre-week festivities kicked off yesterday, and in predictably fine form it has not gone entirely smoothly. As noted in this Reddit thread, weapons and armor from the expansion have already begun to drop, almost a full week before they were supposed to.

Bungie may have accidentally fixed Destiny 2's matchmaking, but a lot of players preferred it bugged
https://www.pcgamer.com/bungie-may-have-accidentally-fixed-destiny-2s-matchmaking-but-a-lot-of-players-preferred-it-bugged/
Last month, Bungie accidentally disabled skill-based matchmaking for Destiny 2's quickplay PvP mode, inadvertently creating more chaotic matches that value speed over balance. It wasn't an intentional change, but Bungie agreed to "take no immediate action" and watch how things played out. And they played out quite well: quickplay was a mess, many agreed, but it was a fun mess. However, following yesterday's pre-Forsaken update, the same quickplay proponents are suspicious that skill-based matchmaking has returned to ruin their fun.

Gwent's singleplayer Thronebreaker mode becomes a standalone RPG
https://www.pcgamer.com/gwents-singleplayer-thronebreaker-mode-becomes-a-standalone-rpg/
Thronebreaker was announced in August 2017 as a singleplayer campaign for the Witcher-based card game Gwent, expected at the time to be out by the end of that year but later pushed into 2018. A year down the road, the plan has changed again: CD Projekt said during a financial results conference that the mode has "evolved" into a standalone RPG called Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales.

Jurassic World Evolution to add challenge mode, sandbox options in next update
https://www.pcgamer.com/jurassic-world-evolution-to-add-challenge-mode-sandbox-options-in-next-update/
Frontier's Jurassic World Evolution is "initially stunning" but is "lacking the depth and variety to support mammoth playtimes", reckons our Pip. Its next update, due September 13, aims to broaden its scope with a new challenge mode, more sandbox options, new contract types, and adjusted dino sizes among other things.

Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is free to play this weekend on Steam
https://www.pcgamer.com/warhammer-vermintide-2-is-free-to-play-this-weekend-on-steam/
Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is free to play this weekend and 50% off on Steam if you haven't had the chance to try it yet.
Fatshark's Left4Dead-ish co-op first-person game is spot-on for a free weekend. That's enough time to try all the different basic classes, figure out the progression and loot systems and probably get through a good chunk of the levels if you throw enough time at it. Vermintide 2 has some of the best melee combat of any game, and while I don't know Warhammer lore that well, it's a really fun representation of that universe, with far grander set pieces than the also-excellent original. It's way prettier, too.

The Bradwell Conspiracy is an intriguing mystery thriller that's due this year

Bossa Studios, the outfit known for Worlds Adrift, I Am Bread and Surgeon Simulator will publish The Bradwell Conspiracy—a "narrative-driven first person game" due on PC later this year.
Developed by debut indie A Brave Plan—whose collective CV includes the likes of Tomb Raider, Ether One and Fable—players are thrown into the aftermath of an explosion. They're then tasked with navigating the wreckage of Bradwell Electronics, and conversing with another survivor, named Amber, by way of AR smart glasses.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition is out Friday as a free update
https://www.pcgamer.com/divinity-original-sin-2-definitive-edition-is-out-friday-as-a-free-update/
Our 2017 Game of the Year wasn't our favorite game of 2017 because it was technically flawless. Divinity: Original Sin 2 launched with a few bugs, and there are weak spots within its mountains of dialogue. I still loved it, though, and it'd be hard for Larian to somehow make it worse, so I'm damn excited for Divinity: Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition, which launches this Friday, August 31 as a free update on PC.

Lol. It's just like they put all of the features I don't like into one game^^

Good for them, though. Probably the best publisher of all time.
