Yeah, I've seen your reply to Peh, just like I'm sure you've seen my reply to Caff where I pointed that even in Nvidia's own benchmarks only two games and the Infiltrator demo actually achieved that 50% increase goal.

But we'll have to wait and see. Maybe doubling the L1 bandwidth and also doubling the L2 cache capacity have an impact on the end result as well.

Indeed. Caches can play a big role. Just the raw numbers don't point to a massive leap. (But raw numbers doesn't tell the whole story anyway.)
Reviews can't hurry up fast enough!

According to the report, No Man’s Sky generated an estimated $24 million across all platforms in July after releasing its much anticipated NEXT DLC and launching on Xbox One. Furthermore, over two million players were active in July, a 10x increase from June.
On the other hand, the reports states that Fortnite revenue is up only 2% from June whereas Overwatch revenue continues to slide despite consistent playerbase.

SOFTWARE

You can now run Windows 95 inside Windows (or Linux or macOS)
https://www.pcgamer.com/you-can-now-run-windows-95-inside-windows-or-linux-or-macos/
Remember when the start menu was novel? When BSODs were a recurring nightmare? When Space Cadet Pinball was all we needed in life? If you want to relive the good old days of Windows 95 without using a 20-year-old PC, well, now you can. Windows 95 is now available as an app on Github.
It was compiled and uploaded by Felix Rieseberg, a Slack developer who apparently had a nostalgic itch to scratch. It's available not just on Windows systems, but also for Linux and macOS. The downloads range in size from 94.8MB to 129MB, depending on the platform you want to run it on.
As noted by The Verge, which drew our attention to the app, it doesn't consume much RAM—only about 200MB.

>>I wonder if it could be used to run old games through it?

MODS/EMULATORS

Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition is a must-have collection of mods, available for download right now
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/silent-hill-2-enhanced-edition-is-a-must-have-collection-of-mods-available-for-download-right-now/
Silent Hill 2 is considered the best Silent Hill game to date. However, and since it was released back in 2001, it’s a bit pain in the ass to run and play it. Thankfully, a team of modders have released a collection of mods that enhances the game and makes it playable to all modern systems.
Silent Hill 2 Enhanced Edition introduces a widescreen camera, higher display resolutions, removes prominent audio bugs, adds PlayStation 2 quality audio and fog that were missing from the PC version, improves controller support and much more.

Resident Evil 2 Source mod is now available, brings Resident Evil 2’s environments to the Source Engine
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/resident-evil-2-source-mod-is-now-available-brings-resident-evil-2s-environments-to-the-source-engine/
Modder ‘Blood_Wraith’ has released the first version of his Resident Evil 2 Source mod for Half Life 2. As the title suggests, this mod brings the environments from Capcom’s classic horror game in Half Life 2, allowing players to explore, solve, and fight their way through Raccoon City and it’s police department.
Resident Evil 2 Source mod is basically a mix of Resident Evil 2 and Half Life 2. While the game has recreations of Resident Evil 2’s environments, it keeps the first-person perspective, the enemies and weapons from Half Life 2. The end result is kind of cool and before someone says it, no; it cannot come close to the quality of the upcoming official Resident Evil 2 Remake.

>>Available from ModDB.

Dark Souls 3 mod lets you storm Lothric as an OP Yhorm the Giant
https://www.pcgamer.com/dark-souls-3-mod-lets-you-storm-lothric-as-an-op-yhorm-the-giant/
Following its Dark Souls Age of Fire mod, the Datahacks team has released Forces of Annihilation—a similar hobbyist project for Dark Souls 3. Out now, FoA lets you storm Lothric as the game's enemies and bosses alike.
Naturally, that's best portrayed in the massive shoes of Yhorm the Giant.

>>The article features a link to see the videos (there's 3 of them) to install the mod.

Till then, feast your eyes on the scene-setting cinematic above, showcased on stage at Gamescom today. And then light a candle for poor Cayde-6.

Stunlock Studios unveiled a battle royale mode for its MOBA brawler Battlerite in May, then earlier this month announced that it would actually be released as a standalone game called Battlerite Royale. Part of the reason for the shift was the "huge reaction" to the mode's announcement—presumably positive—but going by the comments section on Steam, not everyone is happy about this new change in direction.

Announced in February last year, Wargroove is Chucklefish's cutesy "Advance Wars meets Fire Emblem" turn-based strategy game. To be honest, I didn't know all that much about it till it unveiled this adorable dog commander ahead of E3, and I'm now pretty much all in. I'm therefore pleased to hear Chucklefish CEO Finn "Tiy" Brice say it's coming along well, despite taking its time.

With a very simple texture replacement, the PC-version of Shenmue HD is the definitive version: https://www.pcgamer.com/theres-an-hd-texture-pack-mod-for-shenmue-i-and-2

I don't mind most other low-res textures of the game, but you see the leather jacket all the time very close to the camera and the jeans very often close to the camera.

Quite an improvement. Let's see if Sega can do better.

Still no interesting news. Computerbase reported that a Dutch computer shop listed the i9 9900k for 560€ which seems kinda weird.

edit: Apparently I'm the odd one in thinking that it will cost considerably above 500€. People are expecting it to cost less? 500€ is too expensive for a very high clocked 8/16 core CPU that will easily take the crown as fastest 8 core CPU ever? Did I drink too much Intel Kool-aid that I would buy that CPU even if it was 800€?

Why is it weird? The i7 8700K was 399€ at launch, so the extra cost of this one doesn't look out of place.

Sure, for an i9 it's cheap, but then this is supposed to be a mid range chip and won't have as many PCI lanes as their bigger brothers.

I don't get all the fuss about lanes. It has full 16 for the GPU and the rest can be done over the main board. I doubt this has much of a performance factor.
