Forums - Gaming Discussion - You will need ~$650 bucks to match next gen consoles on PC

Or maybe not. The new GTX760 is $249 and is almost at the tier of last years GTX670 which was $399. CPU bottlenecks should be less frequent with each year.

Year after year the PC will get better and cheaper than consoles... no news here.

I hate gaming with keyboard and mouse, So you'd have to add a controller in which cost more. Plus PC doesnt get all my fav games cause devs don't always release them.

Nope, it won't match, even today's games won't run well on max 1080p(look for metro, crysis 3, TR etc.), most of the future games(ports from next-gen consoles) would be crashing this pc, it won't live long.
And even for that pc you have to pay more, for pc that would really match you have to pay much more, but it won't have any graphical advantage.

Nintendo 2018

English is not my native language.

@disolitude: "Its actually only dual core, but intel cores rape AMD cores clock for clock and this cpu os clocked more than double."

That's not exactly a fair statement... it is more of a RISC vs. CISC scenario... so yes it does do more cycles per second, but it also processes less complex data per cycle. There is a trade off for that speed.

7870xt beats the 7950. Look it up...

Just wondering why is 7870xt cheaper than 7950 from quick search. Also where does the new GTX 760 fit in. Thanks.

Chill, I'm not talking down on neither console or PC. I was merely giving a thought on your comment of a $900-$1000 PC required for 1080p/60fps.

e=mc^2

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)

I've got both! I still have to actually build my PC though... or get my brother too!

Hmmm, makes the consoles seem like a good deal for now. But, my new PC comes in tomorrow (with alot more oomph than this one) So...I can haz PS4 and still buy alot of the MS exclusives.

Hmm I think you'd need to spend a bit more than that to ensure your PC will handle next gen games in the next few years. 4GB of system is not really ideal and although the GPU would be fine for next year or so.. once games start to use more VRAM, it might become a limiting factor. I'd opt for something more substantial in GPU power like an GTX760 or HD7950.

Also can't forget other stuff like; OS, keyboard, mouse, controller and optical drive. :)

Eh, they cost about the same from Newegg ~ $260-270. 7950 has 1GB more VRAM, 384-bit bus vs 256, has a higher shader count and can be overclocked more. 7950 is probably the safer card to pick.

you forgot to add a mouse+keyboard in the prices i know theoretically they dont cost much but when it comes to gaming if you want a good M&K they could cost quiet a good sum!
