Bullshit. You can change the text and ringtone by going to ringtone settings. He certainly didn't buy a Lumia 920 because I have the exact phone and I have over 20 text tone options, voice mail tone options, email tone options, and as many ringtone options as possible. Download the myxer app and you get as many ringtones as you want and don't have to convert any files.

WP8 is much better than iOS. I had an iphone and the OS is boring and the phone screen is way too small. I have never tried Android but I have no desire to.

I got Nokia Lumia 920 recently. Pretty happy with it. I used Android (Galaxy S2) and Iphone 3G before this one in the last 5 years. I had more apps downloaded on both of those but i rarely used any. I didn't have problem with either in any way. Same applies here.

I mainly use my phone for calling, messaging, email, browsing web (shortly), maps in emergency (offline maps are great) and RSS reader feeds. Well and music and camera too. So i really don't feel the need for things like Instagram and thousands of other apps which are a big deal to people who talk about phones on the internet.

The OS still needs work with adding notification bar, multi tasking and some other quirks available on android which were recently added to ios.

Hold down back button. Hello multitasking.

Also Live Tiles negates notification bar.

Yea i know about the back button. Should have clarified more by saying ability to close apps easily by swiping or click some close button on them. At the moment all i know is we have to keep on pressing "back" button till it closes. I hear they are fixing this is in 8.1 update.

The multitasking is working differently on WP8. The program remains dormant and uses no memory when its not the app you have up. Its different to Android and IOS in this way. Closing them doesnt affect the performance.

So having them open isnt killing performance on WP8. Its a wierd new way of doing it.

My father bought a Lumia 920...you need to download apps for so many trivial things, judging by his reaction WP8 is not awesome at all.

WTF?

LOL.

Its the opposite. WP8 has  stuff in built into OS. Android and IOS you need apps. WP8 you dont need appss for trivial things. Thats a selling point of WP8.

LOL.

You can't even use a custom sound for incoming SMS without downloading an app. Don't try to talk BS here.

You can't on Android either...well you can't on the Galaxy SIII at least (and if it's not possible there, then where?)

But in general WP8 and Windows 8 in general already has almost every app you would need by default integrated right in the phone.

I have the GALAXY S3 and I think you can change it.

You're right! I just checked and now you can, they must have changed it with one of the more recent updates.

Needless to say I'm pretty happy about that. Before I had GoSMSPro to change message tones.

Do I need to take a phote of the phone for you to believe it? Right next to my monitor with Win8? What does it take to convince you I actually am not just an Anti-MS-fanboy?

@KHLover
I don't care what you are but whoever is using the Lumia 920 isn't tech savvy at all and should go back to a basic flip phone. I have the Game of Thrones intro as my ringtone right now. No converting needed. Download the myxer app. If you are trying to make songs on your playlist ringtones then that is a different story. Regardless myxer has songs as well. Your phone only rings for 20 seconds anyways so I don't know why you would want a 3 minute ringtone in the first place. I hope you're not one of those annoying people who have rap as their ringtone blasting a cuss word every 2 seconds.

I purchase a Nokia 928 and so far I really like the phone.  Being able to pin stuff to your home screen that update information is above what the other OS systems do.  Case in point.  There is a Mall up the street where I live that has movie theater, restaurants etc.  I pinned the mall to my phone which automatically allows easily find all of the places within the mall, including showing me the movie times for shows and a host of other info.

I like the fact I can look at things at a glance instead of a notification bar I have to drag down for stuff.  I did experience the ringtone situation where I had to download an app to get some custom music but then again it took seconds and integrated pretty easy so no real complaints.  The OS is really snappy and pretty much everything launches in seconds.  Nokia own apps are pretty solid like their maps which I would put above Google.  Things like Nokia music which is something IOS is now getting and even Google is there and if you have a sub for Zune music like I do, well it’s a no brainer.

So you DO need an app to use custom songs after all...and no, I hate rap if it makes you feel any better (my ringtone is the "Sherlock" theme song, not as if that matters, though)
