Gays gain rights while black people seem to lose them. What a day...

I'm sorry, I'm not from the US. What do you mean black people seem to lose rights?

He speaks of the courts ruling yesterday that the voting rights act be stricken down. After all the attempts to suppress minority votes in the last presidential election it came as a surprise. We'll just have to wait and see if the south can truly function non-racially with being mandated by the government.

Neither am I.

This seems like it has the potential to greatly affect the voting rights of minorities, though.

Or not, the only thing that was struck down is that 9 states dont have to get aproval from the federal government to change their state laws.  If those states do pass laws that are restrictive, then the laws can be disputed just like in any other state that passes laws that may not be constitutional.  You cant hold these 9 states responsible for racist actions into the infinite future, at some point the training wheels must come off.

Why does a lack of ruling on Proposition 8 mean it's overturned?

Prop 8 has already been ruled on twice that it violates the US Constition.    It has been overturned twice, but held up by the proponets and sponsors of Prop 8.

With today's ruling, it would go back to the lower court ruling, and be invalid.  Probaly at least 30 days before same sex couples get marrige licenses again though.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

"Common sense...is not so common."

The irony.

OT:

5-4 vote, really says it all. Almost half of America is comprised of delusional, indoctrinated fools who subscribe to idealogies of bronze age Jerusalem.

This same number believe the Earth is less than 10,000 years old.

Logic does not work with these people.

I know right!?

And Justice Antonin Scalia is throwing a huge hissy fit today.

Great post! But after the last election I won't put so much trust into those happenings.

I don't get Scalia. The guy is so obviously biased and prejudice that I'm surprised he is still a "justice".

You're surprised that prejudiced people get to be in positions of power? It almost seems the norm.
