Well, to be fair, a marriage community place in Alabama was the 3rd place to offer same sex marriages (not legal rights with those though.) So who do you think will be first Mississipppi or Utah? |
Hmm, just looked up a bit of history/voting tendencies on each state. It seems like Utah has garnered 28% percent support for marriage equality. Mississippi on the other had is a mere 13%. The religions most predominate in these regions also would play a huge factor overall. Still the number opposing this in the southern states is huge in general. It will be hard to get them on board. Unless something changes in these states, it doesn't seem like it will happen soon.

Now, if they can just get rid of governments regulation of marriage all together we can get rid of these issues forever...
Next up! Legalization of marijuana! Then we can all be gay... I mean happy.
Not gay and don't think it is that big of a deal (marriage isn't a big deal to me). I see no reason for a gay marriage ban. Protect the sanctity of marriage? Marriage has become a joke. The divorce rate is above 50% if I recall correctly. There is no sanctity of marriage. Let the gays be married. Maybe the divorce rate will go down?

As a straight non-American, this is fantastic news. Always great to see the walls of injustice and bigotry crumble.

I'm sorry, I'm not from the US. What do you mean black people seem to lose rights?

Salt lake city actually has a very large gay community. Utah is not as backwards as most people think.
Great day for gays indeed! Odd that as broken "traditional" marriage is that they want to tell gay people that they don't have the right to be miserable lol. I'm actually more interested in seeing how next presidential election plays out in the south though.

I am going to paraphrase, but basically the US Supreme Court through out the landbreakng 1965 Civil Rights act. To make sure minorites had the same opportunites to vote.
Congress now has to make a new one.

Neither am I.

This seems like it has the potential to greatly affect the voting rights of minorities, though.
