Well, to be fair, a marriage community place in Alabama was the 3rd place to offer same sex marriages (not legal rights with those though.)

Hmm, just looked up a bit of history/voting tendencies on each state. It seems like Utah has garnered 28% percent support for marriage equality. Mississippi on the other had is a mere 13%. The religions most predominate in these regions also would play a huge factor overall. Still the number opposing this in the southern states is huge in general. It will be hard to get them on board. Unless something changes in these states, it doesn't seem like it will happen soon.
