Forums - Gaming - Thoughts on Next Gen consoles

Tell me in the comments what you think of each console from next gen. Do you expect the WiiU to get better, do you think Microsoft will bring back DRM in latter updates, or do you think the PS4 could actually have a horrible launch??

Please tell me all your thoughts under the subject :)

I am getting a Ps4 and a Wii U. That is my combo for life xD. Sony x Nintendo. As for the Xbox One... I never got a 360 and never even tried the exclusives so I guess I'll never get it :(

"I've Underestimated the Horse Power from Mario Kart 8, I'll Never Doubt the WiiU's Engine Again"

This video I was introduced to this morning sums up my thoughts about the PS4.

My opinion on Xbone is going to be reserved until the console comes out.

Well since you asked so nicely!
PS4-It's going to have a great holiday season beating out the xbox one in sales due to the price diff
Personally- It's going to be my first next gen device so I'm looking forward to it. The 1st party lineup is okay, needs more.

Xbox One- Going to do relatively well the holiday season also
Personally-Exclusives look great, but the starting cost is to expensive for my taste. As for the drm thing, maybe since once ms reels everyone in, they can start slowly transition towards there goal. It would be like a captive audience. There next console afterwards could go forward without as much resistance. I don't think they will completely abandon the strategy, but who knows really.

Wii U-sales should pick up due to games, how it will do lifetime is yet to be seen. It could end up doing a bit better or worse then the gamecube.
Personally- It doesn't interest me much at the moment. Just doesn't scream must get or next gen. The tablet controller is meh too. I might pick it up down the line for some games though.

Not getting an xbone, but will be getting the ps4 at launch and a wiiU when smash or X launches.

I don't get it...I watched the whole video..It might of killed some brain cells that I could not spare...What is the reference?

I'm perfectly fine staying in the current gen for the next couple years. I still have lots of games to play. Once I run out of games to play on my PS3 and Wii, I have a huge backlog of Steam games. By the time I finish all that, next gen consoles and games will be much cheaper.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

Getting a Ps4 for sure! Xbone is not even a thought in my head. Wii U has my interest, however needs to show more games, if they showed maybe one or two more jrpgs exclusive to it, then I will pick one up. Then I have my Pc, which is probably what I will get most of my multiplats on, I have a 680, hoping I can get a Titan soon.

Wii U

Pros

  • Great exclusive line-up already for me with games like Pikmin, Mario World, Wii Party, Mario Kart, Sonic World, and Super Smash Bros
  • Off-TV play looks like an awesome feature
  • Price is the lowest of the main 3 consoles

Cons

  • GamePad apparently still runs slow
  • Little 3rd party support
  • Underpowered compared to PS4 & XB1
  • People will ask you why you bought a tablet for the Wii for $300

XB1

Pros

  • Great exclusive line-up for me with Kinect Sports, Killer Instinct, Dead Rising 3, Quantum Break, Spark
  • I like the potential of Kinect 2.0. Motion control can be enhanced and I think this can take it to a new level
  • The extra non-gaming features might come in handy 1 day

Cons

  • Most expensive of the 3 systems
  • Don't fully trust Microsoft to continue bringing great games after good start
  • XB1 is its name?

PS4

Pros

  • Good value for the price
  • Sony should have good exclusives down the road
  • Controller looks nice, like the touch pad
  • Reminds me a bit of the PS1 for some reason

Cons

  • Line-up is very lacking for my personal tastes so far

I'm always wrong about next gen. Having said that. I think ps4 and Xbox one are not significantly better than the hdtwins I terms of graphics and gameplay. It's like they just updated the systems architecture and that's it. Obviously the old architecture was badly dated. That will make development easier but the end result will be too similar to warrant an upgrade from users.

Wii U has what I like. Pc has what I like. Xbox one has ki and kinect, that's all I like. Ps 4 has nothing I like.

Playstation4 wins next gen confirmed!
