Forums - Gaming - Thoughts on Next Gen consoles

My #1 thought when it comes to next gen consoles is "unimpressed." That includes the Wii U, unfortunately.

That said, I do expect the Wii U to do better starting next year, I think the PS4 will have a phenomenal launch, and I don't think M$ will bring back the DRM this gen. Definitely not online registrations, anyway.

Wii U is destined to oblivion. Sales are pathetic and the console has not caught on to its core market which is casuals. It has strong exclusives but I must ask, Who is really listening? Sales, say no one...

PS4 will own this year's core gamer market because of the X1 DRM revolt. But not a single casual will buy it because there are no real casual exclusives (family type or fitness games) currently announced.

X1 will own the market for home theatre junkies and what is left of the casual market (Kinect Sports Rivals and Disney Fantasia). X1 will get a much better showing in the core gamer market then Wii U, but still will get outsold by PS4 2-1 this year.

Wiiu fails XB one weak PS4 domination.

http://howmuchaction.blogspot.com tells you how much action is in movies.

I prefer Xbox Live and I don't see Sony's online experience catching up. I don't need any responses about free games etc. because I'm talking about the experience and fluidity. PS3 didn't even have cross game chat making it a pain to get into games with friends. At least PS4 will finally have it but I'm sure MS has some new stuff up their sleeves to make Live that much better. I just love the way the invite system is handled on Live in that its instantaneous and easy to join a game with a friend just by pressing the dashboard button. On PS3 you have to press home button, wait 15 seconds, scroll over to messages, accept and by the time this has happened the invite doesn't exist anymore. Sony needs to streamline big time. Sorry about the long rant.

TL:DR I prefer Xbox Live over PSN so I will be going with Xbox One and in a few years I'll probably pick up a PS4 single player exclusives.

Getting a Ps4 for sure! Xbone is not even a thought in my head. Wii U has my interest, however needs to show more games, if they showed maybe one or two more jrpgs exclusive to it, then I will pick one up. Then I have my Pc, which is probably what I will get most of my multiplats on, I have a 680, hoping I can get a Titan soon.

You're welcome to spend your money on whatever you like. But don't do it. Please.

Hahaha, I mean I think they are still more powerful than the recent 780's that came out. Why do you say that though if I may ask?

Your 680 is basically overkill for current games, and likely any games being released in the near future. No reason to upgrade yet other than E-peen. If you really want to upgrade though, the power difference between the 780 and Titan is extremely small. You would never notice it. Your wallet would definitely feel the difference though. The extra $350 isn't even close to being justified.

Just my opinion. Seriously though, don't do it lol.

I will buy a ps4 but just to sell it on ebay
xbox one day one purchase
I will buy a wii u sometime in 2014

Neither the PS4 nor the XB1 is compelling enough for me to change my gaming setup from my current Wii U + PC. Nintendo once again promises the most potential for lateral and family gaming, while my PC will blast anything the PS4/XB1 can offer in terms of visuals way out of the water.
