Forums - Gaming - Just started the TLOU and I have a problem

You don't need the flashlight to play the game. Just ignore it.

The game asks to shake the controller every once in a while, but I still haven't figured out what it actually does. :p

That never happened to me.

Weird.

It just happened to me in one small part of the game when your flashlight starts fickering.  I forget what part though.  Playing through it again on Survivor so ill pay attention to that.  I rarely turn on my flashlight.

@OP My only recommendation is to just go through that part the best you can without your flashlight.

I thought it happens all time when you keep your flashlight on for too long. But you can still turn it off and back on by clicking R3 twice.

Not sure.  Like i said I rarely turn on my flashlight so some people may have experienced it more than me.

The point of  the sixaxis is to recharge your flashlight. Eventually the battery will start dying and the light will begin to flicker, and so you shake the controller a tad bit and it regenerates the flashlight. A shaking noise can be heard in the game when you do this. As far as I know I don't think you can keep playing normally without the sixaxis shaking method because I always do it when prompted. Of course, I could be wrong.

Also: Why would you use a third party controller?

The characters in the game are using electro-magnetic induction survival flashlights. When they begin to flicker you have to shake them up to make them last for a few more minutes. I quite liked that they put that into the game (being someone who has stocked up survival products), but yes it does require sixaxis.

If you absolutely need the flashlight, the work around for lack of sixaxis if leaving the flashlight off for a while then turning it back on. I played the game with a sixaxis controller, but never had to recharge the flashlight because I kept if off unless absolutely necessary.

It doesn't ask you to shake the controller, it asks you to tap it on your palm once. I laughed my cock off at one video of a guy shaking it wildly. They even have the same effect as listen mode when the icon is displayed to show you exactly what to do LOL

I think you may need to post that video here or send it to me. We could all use a good laugh.

I'll see if I can find it. It was a playthough. There was two guys and a girl in the bottom left of the screen, text running down the right hand side of the screen and the game playing top right.  I think someone mentioned it in the comments and they just took it as fact.  I can't remember what it was called though

edit: It's in there somewhere I trying to find it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8jCy8zJ2qg&list=SPGxCL8JAojAMFZP2bsA-GoOe0ge6se9jj&index=1

He also picked everything up individually throughout the entire game instead of holding triangle to pick everything up at once LOL

FOUND IT! It starts at 1 minute: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCN_5u0mZn8&list=SPGxCL8JAojAMFZP2bsA-GoOe0ge6se9jj

It's a single player game and every PS3 is sold with a sixaxis controller, this shouldn't be an issue. If your DS3 broke and you replaced it with a cheap knock off that's your lookout. There are a lot of games that require some use of sixaxis so having no sixaxis controller in the house is limiting.

Lol people, how far in the game are you to have not noticed that sometimes the flashlight flickers and then you have to tilt the controller so that it works properly again? Kinda odd if you don't have sixaxis...
