I LOVE GIGGS said:
- Kinect is mandatory: the fact that everyone will own the souped up motion controller means it might finally be able to reach its full potential.
- The controller is king: Xbox controller is arguably one of the best ever.
- Innovation: Although it's now canned, the DRM meant that discs weren't needed after the initial install and all your games could be played on another Xbox. Not only that but the (also defunct) Family Share feature would have slashed costs for households and allowed you to nominate 10 "family members" to access your library. It shows, at least, that Microsoft is trying to innovate and drag us into the digital era.
- HDMI In: Watching the televised football while hacking zombies to death would be great.
- Xbox Live still trumps PS+: PlayStation Plus is now mandatory to play online so the whole argument about the exorbitant cost of Live has been watered down somewhat.
- The games look great: Sony's exclusives didn't show such a great leap forward from current gen titles for me.
Xbox and PlayStation owners can rest assured, however, that whichever system they opt for, this generation is shaping up nicely. For me, it's the Xbone that's going to be first out the box - purely because its promise and potential seems far greater. The PS4 can wait.

Not to knock your purchasing decision, but I take issue with a few points. Disclaimer: I am going the opposite direction and it's PS4 for me first then an XBone when there is a significant price drop and hopefully no required Kinect.
1. You already know my feeling on Kinect so i'll move on to
2. The XBOX 360 is a great controller and fits bigger hands like mine but as the DS4 is now larger (from reports of hands on at E3) and based on the quintesential controller design from which all other (360 controller included) modern controlers are based WITH the touch pad and light bar I am looking forward to getting my hands on it. Mostly preference here though so....
3. The one point I have the MOST aversion to out of them all. There was nothing absolutely NOTHING "innnovative" about MS DRM sheme or it's Family Sharing. FIrst off, we saw how easy it was for MS to trash can the DRM stuff and that was after they kept telling us it was so absolutely integral to the console itself. Secondly the Family Sharing is nothing new as the PS3 has allowed you to share content with up to 5 other consoles (I say up to because they lowered the number to 2 at the end of 2011) and they allowed this while the physical game disc was still king. Third, MS tried to as you say "drag us into the digital era." Are we not already IN the digital era? Can you not already download just about any game that resides on a disc from either the XBLA or the PS Store?
MS tried to lure us in with the promise of better convenience, lower prices and sharing. They wanted us to go all digital on THEIR terms. But we said no we'll do it on our terms. WHich is the best for you and me and all of us "gamers." Why? Because now MS knows we are the keepers of our wallets and we decide what we buy not them. I'm not saying they are horrible company or anything but they were trying to force us into something we aren't ready for. It's not that we are backwards or technophobes (I mean seriously we're talking about people who own video game consoles, probably a smartphone or two and just about every other gadget known to man) it's that we are smart and sense a bad deal when we see one.
See we know that had we accpeted MS terms there would be no price drops and at any time MS could reduce or revoke the sharing plan at any time. Just as Sony has done to theirs 5 years after it began. Then we'd all be stuck buying digitals at the same retail price of $60 sharing with at first 10 then 5 then 2 and when the next gen comes after this no backward compatibility. Oh and isn't this supposed to be the last generation of consoles? Nuff said there.
4. HDMI in cool feature I was initially tantalized by it but then thought about how unfriednly Comcast is to going around or not using their boxes... Though MS does handle our cable box software so... If it's still included when the price drops I'll use it to hook my PS4 to.
5. XBL is not better than PS+ it just isn't I have amassed over 500 GB worth of digital titles in less than two years on PS+. Sure if you didn't use PS+ and now need it to play inline ga,es that does suck BUT F2P games won't need PS+ to play online, 3rd party developers can opt out their games from PS+ requirements and you can still access ALL the other services like Netflix etc. without PS+. MS is trying to emulate the PS+ strategy (free games) but even that is a limited time (ends next November I do believe). And with PSN charging and adding some of the stuff they are showing it is sure to be leaps and bounds better over its previous iteration.
6. Titanfall was the ONLY game that stoked any interest from me and its not a launch title and I'll most likely play that on PC anyways. But hey again thats just personal preference and I'll be even more honest the first game I absolutely want to play is Watch Dogs (which has exclusive content on PS4)
Anyways not here to start a flame war I totally repsect your decision on what to buy just wanted to point some stuff out to ya.
