Forums - Microsoft - Dead Rising 3 to contain exclusive story and missions on SmartGlass

Gaming Everything

If you want to experience every last thing Dead Rising 3 has to offer, you’ll need to use SmartGlass.

Executive producer Josh Bridge confirmed to Siliconera that there are “some exclusives” such as original missions.

He said:

“You can finish the game without it. There’s plenty content as is without it. But we put some exclusives in the game for those who have a SmartGlass compatible device. Personally, I’m a child; I love gadgets, hearing a little ring… I can even customize the ringtones too… and hearing a little voice, that gives you exclusive missions.”

When asked if there’s a character unique to SmartGlass, Bridge said:

“Yes. His storyline is his own. And it interweaves with the main storyline. Without it, you’re not losing out on what the story is. But you’re getting more out of the game.”

Now that's the kind of Smartglass integration that I've been looking forward too. I love all the extra little things that Smartglass and Kinect are going to add to Xbox One games.

I'm sceptical. I think it sounds tacked on.

All these innovations, Kinect, The Eye, motion controls, the cloud, Wii U gamepad, Smartglass, Illumiroom, they seem to be features invented by the hardware developers in hopes of getting a unique characteristic to their own product.

They're not innovations that come naturally, they're not asked for by game developers and gamers.

But some game developers will feel the pressure to implement some features in their games that support these innovations, but at the gamer's end it will feel superfluous and unnecessary. It won't feel genuine.

I am really looking forward on what devs will do with smartglass. It's like a combination of remote play and what Nintendo is trying to do combined in one flexible solution, available on all major mobile-platforms.

Some gamers never want change. Some may call that stagnation, or more like a metaphor for not wanting to change as one grows older in life. Not calling you out, just saying.

I say change brings new possibilities and in the end, this stuff is a differentiator, and optional at the same time.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Haven't embedded video in a long time, not sure if this'll work. If not, here's the link lol : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgIrXKpv2gw

Will it be any smart glass device or just tablets, like the map in Forza Horizon.

Sounds awesome!

Ohh I am so sorry, but I literally couldn't resist this, kudos if anyone actually get the reference. (The below statement is not meant to be taken seriously)

Change is inevitable... look at evolution! All those mutations occurring all the time... but you know what's neat about evolution? Most of those mutations don't take; better species wipe them out because they thought that change was the way to go when it was just a short road to extinction. Only one out of a billion mutations succeeds.

There's a difference between courage and stupidity, and most of those mutations only realize that after they're extinct.

Sounds shit and forced. It should be available to everyone that owns the console. Not just people willing/able to use smartglass.
