And what stands out there? Oh yeah, things were changed! Maybe that's the problem; people just can't get over change sometimes.

I agree. Change is sometimes hard to get over.

Well... a gimmick tends to be a short lived trend or fad created with the sole purpose of luring a greater market of people, generally who impulse buy. The Wii was made to lure people who dont game. It was created to simplify the process so they are no longer alienated from enjoying games. Sales show it really didnt matter, except for the Wii Fit, Wii Sports and stuff like that. Moms everywhere were going Gaga for Wii fit until Microsoft launched the Kinect. Gimmicks have no practical use in the long run. It gave the Wii a good four years before the casuals went to the next trend. Nintendo tried to ride the tablet craze and that failed because theres no multipurpose use in buying a Wii U tablet. Smart Glass is a gimmick itself as far as gaming is concerned, but it will be accessible to more people than the Wii U is.

Why does adding a second screen with touch capabilities has to be a gimmick ? Why can't it be classified as an innovative way to improve upon the classic controller ? It opens up possibilities to make the gaming experience more enjoyable, that's what fucking matters. Jeez, only by playing RPG's on my 3DS, it was pretty obvious to me that it does make the gaming experience better. Why do you focus on whether it's trying to capitalize on the tablet craze or trying to appeal to casual gamers ? What about the fact that it can enhance the core gamer experience when used right ? Still, in a perfect world, the Wii U would have both the gamepad and the horsepower of a PS4, but just cause we don't have that, doesn't mean the gamepad is a gimmick and can't add anything to the gaming experience.

I wrote some pseudo-code to explain the thought process:

if (user($company="like")) {
    $feature=array("awesome","system-seller","advantage");
} else {
    $feature=array("shitty","gimmick","fad");
}

I blame everyone who didn't run out to arcades and pump dollars into F-Zero AX

I blame everyone who didn't rush out to buy the perfection that is F-Zero GX.

I used to have it but I gave it away to my cousins along with Metroid Prime after I didn't get far in those games. Though I believe they live South America and it was a few years after their release

Sticker Star is the 2nd best Paper Mario only behind the N64 game. It was fun and while the gameplay was different and it was more linear, it still had that classic PM humor & Nintendo charm!

Hahahahaha QFT

OT: *sigh* I still believe that Nintendo will come out with a F-Zero game thanks to the NintendoLand minigame, out of all Nintendo franchises, why they picked that one? It most mean something....I still want to believe T.T

Well, change is hard to get over when it's for the worst. I do like change. Galaxy was a vast change for 3D mario and it was awesome. Prime was a re-inventing of the Metroid franchise. Wind Waker changed Zelda significantly with the ocean. I love change, it just has to be for the better. The changes he has suggested as of late have led to games that are not that great IMO.

No need to be condescending.

Why does there need to be a gimmick to justify a sequel? Why can't they just make a normal F-Zero? If the reason is commercial success then say that; don't set out to mislead your fans.

You misuse the word "gimmick."

c : a trick or device used to attract business or attention

That describes the Wii,

PS3, 360, PS2, Xbox, GameCube, and every other console created. And that's just the video game industry.
