Forums - Microsoft - Xbox One will now sell as many units as PS4, says Pachter

Of course when Xbox One drops in price then it may sell enough in the US to offset the worldwide differences. It depends if the casuals buy it or not. They need to drop the price fast though.

PS4 has the price advantage now and it will proably have it througout the whole gen. What will it take 1 or 2 price cuts for the XB1 to price match the PS4? By then Sony will probably be ready to cut their price as well. Price matters to a lot of people and it is a big reason for the XBox 360s success in America.

I'm very excited for the next console war, it will be epic. Both equally fighting for market share on each region, cannot wait!!!

PS4 will most likely sell a little better worldwide but Xbox One will sell much better in the USA which is the only thing that matters to me. I'm not playing games against people who live across the ocean.

Why does it matter to you? Will your experience be hampered if PS4 sells more than X1 there?

I guess he wants Xbox Live servers sufficiently populated so he can play online.

It might match in America, but not else where. Not even the UK.

So are they back on track to sell close to half a billion consoles. http://ca.ign.com/articles/2013/05/24/microsoft-over-1-billion-next-gen-consoles-will-be-sold

Has ipads even sold 500 million units yet? Not each different version. Just Ipad, ipad 2, ipad 3, whatever.

If they have not, then I doubt the Xbone will.

Ipad's are at bit over 110 million. They have nothing on Xbone as it is one box to rule them all.

Does anyone actually keep a record of this guys predictions.

Pachter is like Nostradamus's retarded brother !

I think MS will continue to lead in the USA, but with launching the same time, and with PS4 being cheaper it has a good chance of at least keeping up with it. UK will also be a lot closer, while i think the rest of Europe will certainly move more towards Sony again (price and being more inclined to buying a Sony product).

I suspect Xbox will have trouble in Asia, especially Japan, which will provide more benefit to Sony as it did this generation.

So overall, as long as Sony don't screw up, they have a chance of creating a more significant gap than this generation, perhaps 10-20 million? It's really difficult to predict, because we really dont know what dumb move either might make and cause issues.

I'm hoping a smooth launch for both consoles, and that it is decided by games and features, rather than PR guys making a big mess of things.

History disagrees, you do realize that the most expensive console was never the lead console in the US right? Unless MS is very special and they are able to make history by doing something Sony or Nintendo could never do, and that is launch at over $400 and be a success or the lead console.
