What if Sony plan for DRM was to release now, in 2013, a console that is compatible with current consumer trends and behaviors, with the same policies as on PS3 but it was only temporary?

Like with the backward compatibility they got rid with their next PS3 model. What is the next PS4 model released have then DRM, always-on, camera, no-used games stuff?

What if that's what Microsoft understood, and that's why they backtracked with the first release of the Xbox One?

Then people will not upgrade to the new models.

The only way this type of DRM will stick is if/when the consoles go digital only.

You think the shitstorm with MS now was bad? Gamers would burn Sony HQ to the ground if they did this. Sony would never sell another console to a core gamer again. Same with MS.

All they can really do now is just give more reasons for people to get the digital version. Or even sell 2 disc versions. One with just the digital information to link to your account and a normal one.
