The numbers he posted are NPD.

The 3DS numbers are fairly poor, it's just everything else is even worse.

DS in May (US)

2007: 423k
2008: 453k
2009: 633.5k
2010: 383.7k
2011: can't seem to find May, but April was 357k and June 243k

In fact, May 2007 saw the DS, Wii, PSP, PS2, and 360 all above this month's 3DS sales.  All by a pretty substantial margin based on the 3DS estimate.  Closest was the 360 at 155k.  In 2008 the PS3 joined them with every piece of hardware outselling the 3DS figures this month.  Actually, with the exception of the PS2/PSP this continued until 2012 when the Wii and DS dropped as well.

3DS and PS4 will own this Holiday season. That explosion in sales Holiday 2011 was unbelievable, hope to see a repeat of that.

Honestly 114k for May isn't great it's just better than the others.


Where did you read that 3DS sold 114k in May. Any source for that?

I actually read that the Xbox 360 sold 114k in May, according to MS themselfs, so it's only logical that the 3DS sold more than that number you are saying.

It probably sold something near to 120k-130k if this site is anything to go by.

Article from IGN quoting an NPD analyst said the 3DS was essentially flat YoY.  Last year it did 113.5k, so most people are assuming it is somewhere in the range of 114-120k.

Considering VGC had it at 163k, I'm not sure it is anything to go by.
