Starts with Red/Blue, expansions to every next installment every 2 years.

Quests like in the tv show.
Lots of different tradeskills like mining, planting, first aid, training, birthing, mapmaking, seafaring, fishing, potion making, tinkerer
Thousands of servers
Elite 4 is actually the Elite 4 players
Can be poketrainers, team rockets, GP, etc
Pick class like, "nerd", "bug lover", "macho", "scientist", "spelunker", etc

Let's ignore that nobody trusts Nintendo to set up online in a non-irritating manner. An MMORPG requires an enormous amount of resources as it has to be continually updated. If there's not enough content and not enough new content added, an MMORPG quickly loses players. You also have to account for kids wanting to play such a game and I don't think anyone has found a proper solution that is satisfying for all ages yet. Plus the question if there is actually a large number of people who want such a game and thus justify its existence.

They could contract it to activision :D

I would say more games



I know various people who bought the 3DS just because of Pokemon X/Y.
A Pokemon game for the Wii U would probably help its condition, but a MMORPG is not likely.



MMORPG require a LOT of resources and time. Nintendo is better off spending that money on 1st party games or 3rd party collaborations.



They need a price cut and third party support.

That, and no one likes them as evidenced by Square Enix's numerous attempts.

@Prof; What does the Wii U need this for? Surely not to sell.
