THe idea of MS taking out anyone is laughable and anyone who truly believes that, is a few clowns short of a circus. Even if they take out Sony by some divine intervention, you still have Ninty and Sony didnt even take them out with PS2 and Xbone isnt going to get anywhere near those numbers, hell it probably wont even get to 360 numbers. Its already getting beat by PS4 and neither system has released yet, plus Wii U has a head start. Hell Ninty doesnt even need a home console to serve MS. The 3DS has been beating 360 for months now, by a large margin.

Get back on your meds.

1.  It's still debatable that PS4 specs outdoes the X1; or that it would provide any meaningful diffrence. Just look at E3 and most games look better on X1 than on PS4...why is that?

2.  X1 had better exclusives and more of it.

3.  MS has deep pockets to make sure the system succeeds.

1. you were there and saw em' running on the system? no.. you watched a shitty livestream of the event like everyone else with bad quality, we don't know jack untill we see it running face to face... or in this case monitor/TV.. what 'looks good' is pure subjective.

2. Subjective, had better exclusives is not a fact, more of it? heard reports that it was the other way around. Anyway.
that is only your oppinion, not facts.
note: i'm not saying that it is wrong to think that way. (you might be right on the 'and more of it' part)

3. If they want to own the living room they are able to do it, if they REALY want it. MS will take milions in loss if that is the target for this generation, if that is 'this is successful' is up to debate.
Personally, if they took the 'push more money into it for it to work' approach, i wouldn't call it a success, if it was, you wouldn't have to do that.

Not quite, you were on the right line or reasoning but then you brought a value judgement into it, falling into the same trap as Ucell, only different.

Pure gaming is focussing exclusively on games: good, bad, social, kiddie, waggle, "mature" (funny how "mature" is used for games that are anything but), it doesn't matter. If a product only does games then it's a pure gaming machine. Not even Wii U is pure games, but it certainly is closer to pure games than PS4 or Xbone.

You're right. I should have said: pure gaming is games and nothing else.

I'm already 21 and growing by the day. Simply disliking Nintendo doesn't necessitate me to grow up. Neither does liking games with intriging storylines and brutal action. Maybe you should step out of the world of Mario and Pokemon and see for yourself.

I have said this since the One's DRM policies came to light: the system will almost certainly be a great system...two years after launch when Microsoft retracts the DRM.

At the moment, it's impossible for Microsoft to "take out" either Sony or Nintendo.

Nintendo is doing quite well in the handheld space: the 3DS is the current best-selling console, and has reliably held three of the best-selling titles for six months now. Even if the Wii U doesn't do remarkably, Nintendo will probably still break-even on it with just their first-party IP's, and then come next generation with diminishing graphic returns, you will literally not be able to distinguish graphics from a Nintendo console, and a MS/ Sony one. Only a developer's chosen art-style.

Conversely, Sony has a huge advantage over Microsoft: simple internal architecture. Developers will naturally gravitate toward this because it has no eDRAM or eSRAM or huge CPU caches like either the One or the Wii U. The stuff developers will develop for is a CPU, a GPU, and a big chunk of really fast RAM. There's almost no need to optimize the code for the platform: mash compile, and you're golden. Come late-life, that's going to come into play. And then there's the DRM: gamers without internet are relatively uncommon, but they do exist and Sony will now collect almost all of them.

Microsoft may do well out of the gate, but if I had to guess, I think both Sony and Nintendo's consoles have better long-term potentials.

No, but acting as if "games where you shoot stuff with guns" or cut things to pieces with major gore is "mature", while games with a more old school, "cartoony" approach is "immature", is beyond infantile. So I suppose Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon, and Jak & Daxter and Sly Cooper and Croc and Ratchet & Clank, all games/franchises that started on Sony consoles, were/are also "immature"? Or is just "cartoony" Nintendo franchises you don't like? Excuse me...that are "immature".

I'm likely older than you, and have been gaming a lot longer. Yet I do not equate shooting/graphic violence with "maturity". In fact you could make an intellectual argument to the direct opposite effect. HOWEVER, it all boils down to what you like as a gamer. If YOU personally like "realistic" shooters and other such games, congratulations. But that doesn't make the kind of games YOU like, any better than the kinds of gamers OTHERS might enjoy. Just enjoy what you like, and let others do the same.

maybe... but at least the other companies are also coming out with new ips also in addition to newer installments to older franchises

Sony is not even relevant to the TV industry anymore.  It's all about Samsung and LG.  The Sony brand is an old brand that lost it's cool factor!!! Samsung, LG, Apple, MS, Google etc are the in-thing at the moment!

What was the point of your post? It has nothing to do with playstation brand.  Mine was just a little joke taking a jab at both companies MS and Sony.

Talking about cool factor though, MS has very little.  No one wanted Zune, no one want to use IE, no one wants to use Bing as they are all seem as lame.  MS is really not seen as cool company.  They are seen as really rich company.   Don't get me wrong I actually like many MS products (im a PC, and I dislike apple).


opps nevermind all this Sony fans hating MS got me all defensive.  Actually Zune did ok, IE is still pretty dominant, Bing is gaining ground as is W8 and Surface.  MS is still a powerful brand unlike Sony which is a fledging brand in consumer's minds!!!  Just ask people who they prefer Samsung or Sony.


Zune sold well, MS just dropped it because they couldnt dominate Apple with it. They don't stick with a product if it doesn't at some point overwhelm the competition it was designed to throw off. The only product that is certain is Windows for Microsoft. IE isnt dominant, Google Chrome and Firefox are still the largest browsers.

Wait a minute! Internet Explorer is still the most used browser... to download another browser.

This guy oni-link seems very, very suspicious for one he don't want the console to be called the Xbone which there is a rumour MS employes are not allowed to call it like that and that if you want to know which are viral marketers just ask them to call it the Xbone and they would not be able to do it.

Then the guy apparenlty is 34 years old and is still using emoticons and kinder garden assumptions and logic which the regular VGcharter would not use, I mean calling the Xbone the vastly superior looking console? Most people would tell you PS4 and Xbone look the same for now, later he says only pirates care about MS anti consumer policies, it looks very childish but in a different way like he was "acting" childish as if he were a 34 years old man trying to act like he thinks a forum dweller act.

I think oni-link is a marketer, just my opinion.
