Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Fans: What can Nintendo do to lose you as a customer?

*Note: This thread is for Nintendo fans ONLY, so run-of-the-mill Nintendo fans are not welcome.

As in every E3, I have done nothing but rant about something I disliked... but then I realized:

I will get the WiiU. I will buy that 3D Mario I'm vehemently criticizing. I just can't leave the uniqueness of Nintendo games, no matter what they do, I will still want to play their games. Even if I now enjoy PC gaming and the joy of those cinematic games, going back and playing Luigi's Mansion 2 feels really good because there is nothing quite like it.

That gets me thinking. They can push me away for some weeks or in the worst case scenario some months, but there is no way they can do it permanently. Even if they rehash 2D Mario for eternity. Even if they kill Paper Mario. They will always have something special that catters to their fans.

The only way they could sever the ties permanently is if they stop making the games I enjoy entirely, listen to the non-fans and create new and "mature" IPs instead of their old and iconic franchises. That, as you know, will never happen.

What about you? What can end your relationship with Nintendo?

First gen as a Nintendo owner. What got me to buy a Wii U was their console libraries are usually quite different from the PC, which is what I normally play. As long as it stays that way I should be happy. I'd be upset after buying the console if all I had to look forward to were late PC ports.

They can stop making the "Nintendo style" of games that have that old school gaming mentality that puts fun and gameplay first, and just start copying what everyone else in the industry does. Which they will never do.

if they do not release a Metroid game this gen -

Dropping support on the Wii U

Oh... I don't know D: there is just something about Nintendo games that very few other games have. they have a sort of "Nintendo magic" that always makes me enjoy even the weaker of the games. they are also pretty unique as well. they make games that bring the sort of stuff that other games don't have. I mean, Pikmin for instance is really a one of a kind game, can't really find any other game like it.
If Nintendo lost that magic and uniqueness, that is when I would stop playing their games... but I would still play their old retro games lol

If Zelda turns bad then I'll probably stop.

stop making great games and pull a M$

Well this is only the third Nintendo console I've ever bought (the first being the Wii and the second beingtthe 3DS).

Those 3 consoles all had/have a USP that's interested me as a gamer. If they release a bog standard console with a bog standard controller and no USP I probably won't get it.

I'm not a big fan of most of the Nintendo franchises with the exception of Metroid and Zelda, although I have bought and will buy both Galaxies and 3D World - but Mario is one of if not the most annoying character in video game history imo so I have to play them in small doses. There's only so many 'whoo hoos' and 'whee hees' I can stand before I want to throw something at my telly lol.

They stop making Nintendo styled games and just start pumping out gritty shooters. Not that I don't enjoy gritty shooters, but that's not what I play Nintendo games for.
