Forums - Gaming - Do you still play your old games? How much replay value can a game have?

I am playing civ iv right now, I haven't won a map in ages :(

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Starfox 64 comes to mind, Smash Bros Melee and Brawl, and every Zelda game.

Games that I still play today: Brawl, Guitar Hero 3, NFL street 2, Halo 3, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Orangle box, Pokemon Stadium, Super Mario 64, others.

Currently own:

  • Ps4

Currently playing: Witcher 3, Walking Dead S1/2, GTA5, Dying Light, Tomb Raider Remaster, MGS Ground Zeros

I don't play any of my old games, I mean I had all the fun I could have with them for now. But I think in few years I will revisit them and praise them while at the same time complain about newer games.

Normally older games that I have nostalgia for. Final Fantasy games from 6-10, Metal Gear Solid titles, and all Street Fighters. I actually like popping my old fighters in every now and then, reminds me of the good ol' days.

Edit: On a side note: I find myself not wanting to replay newer games.  Even The Last of Us didn't want me to replay it.  Though, to be fair to the Last of Us, if there was a god mode of some kind I'd probably play it again.

@BasilZero: how do you count the times you played the Mario Kart games? Just wondering, as I play games like that from time to time in an uncountable manner when friends are around. Anyway a nice list of games!

bizarre-galaxy.de - My Browsergame, but sadly only in german :(

You can play as an octopus, though!

Yes! Some games are immortal and timeless and I play them all the time!

Heroes of Might & Magic, Civilization, Betrayal at Krondor, Baldur's Gate games etc, so much fun year after year!

All final fantasy series.

I play all my old games - me and my little brother were playing Pocky and Rocky not too long ago and now I'm playing Earthbound. I'll probably start up minish cap before I go to bed tonight

Games can and should tell stories and share ideas through their mechanics. This is the intrinsic element of the medium and this is how experiences should be crafted in video games. No company does this as well as Nintendo and their echoes from the past.

Now and then. Most recently I've popped in We love Katamari, SSX 3 and Ikaruga.
Last few years I've spend about as much time playing HD collections as new games.
And my wife found an Intellivision 2 at a garage sale with a bunch of games last winter, good times.
