I'm usually all for implementing advanced tactics such as SSBM's wavedashing, but snaking really pisses me off. It completely ruins the game, imo, and I hope to never see it again.

Also, Nintendo's planning on doing this every year? Awesome!

Wavedashing is the worst.  The absoulte worst.  I enjoy a lot of the advance techniques from Melee, and I wish L canceling would come back, but wavedasing was all about exploiting a mechanic that wasn't supposed to exist.  I was able to do it (and I mained Jiggly Puff at the time so it didn't matter anyway) but it flew in the face of the pick up and play nature of Smash.  Plus, it was so annoying to be around. CLACK CLACK CLACK CLACK CLACK.  Funny thing is, I'm not really against snaking.

Look at that video, he basically is in a boost for the entire race.

Oh boy, that quality!

OT: I never got why so many people hated snaking. It's not like it was cheating or anything. Everyone could do it.

Maybe because it destroyed the entire balance of the game?

The way I can see this disrupting balance is with the offline Cups. (Since I don't think computers could do this...) Online, since anyone can do it, I don't see how this disrupts balance.

Because it renders any character but ShyGuy and Yoshi useless, since their stats make them the best at snaking? If 90% of the characters are rendered obsolete by one single abused gameplay technique, IMO this technique destroyed the balancing.

It's just something forced that makes the game less fun but that you have to do in order to have any chance to succeed. Think of Maka Wuhu.

Anyway, I'm confident they will fix that.

Well, I hope they fix it, because right now snaking was possible in some areas in the MK 8 demo.

And while we're at greyed-area things, barely touching a ramp to get a quick trick boost was doable as well.

Man, I already can't wait to play Super Smash Bros. next year! ^_^

Some areas, as in the starting area only. There's literally no where else you could pull it off effectively in the three tracks that were demo'ed, and even at the starting area, you'll only be able to get a few boost. Oh, and that last part about tricks, I believe that has always been the case. They could patch it up some before MK8 releases though.

Snaking is possible in the second track, I've seen it. Plus there's a downhill section in it so wide that it should be viable there as well.

The tricks have always been like this, but it's one of those not-so-obvious things for the average gamer.

Alright well like I said, there's no way Nintendo will allow snaking to be advantageous in the final game just like they did with Wii and 7 so there's nothing to worry about.
