Forums - Nintendo - Super Mario 3D World won’t have online multiplayer

I can see the complications of online, especially since one character's position affects the whole lot. It could end up being a big mess imo especially if lag occurs.

It'll still be fun, but that could have been a MAJOR selling point.

Indeeds! I'm sure I'm not the only one who woulda bought it no question if it just had the simple feature of online multiplayer.

Hm...yeah this needs to happen.

Maybe servers are too costly? Nintendo does have free online after all. And these servers are expected to run a lonngggg time.

That couldn't be the case, otherwise why are so many of their other games online?

Little Big Planet also does the same thing where the camera follows whoever is in front. Wasn't an issue for that game's online, don't see how it would be here or anywhere else for that matter.

Good. i want local multiplayer, that is where real fun and experiences are created.

God dammit Nintendo. Looks like i'll skip another year for Wii U.

I am so pissed with Nintendo and these sort of decisions. The Rayman dev decided to omit it in Origins, and I am not sure if it was because of the waves of complaints from people, but they're implementing it in the new game. Gladly get my day one purchase. *sigh* Looks like I'll get teh Wii Uz next year instead.

I can understand being disappointed in the lack of online multiplayer but I don't get skipping the game entirely just because you'll have to play it by yourself like all other 3D Mario games before it.

Signature goes here!

I'm not super big on Mario, as in I generally only get a Mario game ever couple of years. This is mainly because they lack replay value to me. Once I beat em, that's it, I'll basically never touch em again. Only Sunshine did I play through multiple times as I really enjoyed the overall game. I had recently gotten 3D Land cause it was bundled, and then I got NSMB2 cause I was wanting a new game and it was right there available for download, plus I haven't played a 2D Mario since the original NSMB. Basically, I just got a fresh dose of Mario, a pretty heavy one at that, so it's gonna take something really special to make me get a new Mario game this early. Online multiplayer woulda been it, as that woulda solved my replay value issue. Course, that's not the case, and so, by the time I feel like getting a new Mario, there will likely be one newer than Super Mario Cats that I get instead. This is all just me though.
