I can understand being disappointed in the lack of online multiplayer but I don't get skipping the game entirely just because you'll have to play it by yourself like all other 3D Mario games before it.

I'm not super big on Mario, as in I generally only get a Mario game ever couple of years. This is mainly because they lack replay value to me. Once I beat em, that's it, I'll basically never touch em again. Only Sunshine did I play through multiple times as I really enjoyed the overall game. I had recently gotten 3D Land cause it was bundled, and then I got NSMB2 cause I was wanting a new game and it was right there available for download, plus I haven't played a 2D Mario since the original NSMB. Basically, I just got a fresh dose of Mario, a pretty heavy one at that, so it's gonna take something really special to make me get a new Mario game this early. Online multiplayer woulda been it, as that woulda solved my replay value issue. Course, that's not the case, and so, by the time I feel like getting a new Mario, there will likely be one newer than Super Mario Cats that I get instead. This is all just me though.
