PS1 - 7918 - (JP: 4944, US: 1335, EU: 1639)
PS2 - 9663 - (JP: 5281, US: 1548, EU: 2834)
PS3 - 354 - (JP: 163, US: 105, EU: 86)
PSP - 1719 - (JP: 1719, US: 374, EU: 406)

This appears to have been posted alongside Sony's Q3 results. The Japan numbers are totally insane, even considering limited editions. How could a game store possibly keep track of so many releases? It boggles the mind.

I assume that for the US EU games, most of them are the same, so that total number of game titles is not right

Well sure, that will include duplicates of games released in more than one region. The games would still be cosmetically different in terms of languages and perhaps region-coding, and in any case each regional division of Sony must separately approve the games for release and would track them individually.

Nonetheless, the numbers are staggering any way you look at it. Especially in Japan.
