Forums - Sony - Playstation plus question

Has anyone heard whether or not the free games you download as a playstation plus member will transfer over to the ps4?  Cause i have heard your ps+ membership itself does, and if the games you have downloaded do as well then you could build yourself a nice library of games to play while your waiting for more games to come out.  Which in my opinion would be a nice incentive to be an early adopter for the ps4.

nope coz ps4 isnt backwards compatible.however there will be ps+ IGC on PS4 from launch day (although its a slow trickle of mostly indie games)

It's my understanding that while Sony is working at a way to play PS3 games on the PS4 it will have have that ability at launch and therefore they would not have a means of transferring games you got for free or bought on the PS3 to the PS4. That is unless the game happens to be on both, then they could make it work.

no, it's ok to feel that way, as i'm sure you're not alone.

i felt that way about 360 just 8 yr.'s ago, made a comment about it, 3 yr's ago and got a warning for it lol.

See this is what confuses me is the online store when the ps4 launches gonna be a completly different setup from the current ps3 one or what.

No, all those games are PS3 games, made for the PS3's hardware. Hold on to your PS3 as the PS4 isn't backwards compatible. Gaikai will allow for game streaming of PS3 games, but to what extent we don't know. We will find out in 2014 when that launches.

What we don't know is if PSone and PS2 games will play on PS4. Those are done through emulators so I expect those to work. They also might be part of Gaikai too, but that depends on how good your internet connection is so I hope they have downloadable versions and not just cloud.

Now, some developers might create ports of PS3 games to PS4, especially smaller PSN titles. But since they will cost them money there is good change they aren't going to be cross buy. Or at least not all of them. Limbo recently launched on Vita and that is cross buy, very cool of them to do that.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

You don't transfer anything, the PS4 is treated as a separate system under the same subscription.

No. The Store will be the same wih games for PS3 and PS4... PS3 games didn't run in PS4.

Each game in PSN have the list of plataforms that can run... so just the ones that can run in PS4 will be compatilbe with PS4.

The PSN Store already supports multiples plataforms... every content there a label saying what plataform it runs.

A little off topic but how is sony going to market PS plus to people since its diff on the ps3 and the ps4. On ps3 multi is still free but on the ps4 it is now behind PS+ so isn't that going to get complicated?

No.

Plus will have games for PS3, Vita and PS4... I don't have a Vita but I receive the games for Vita via Plus... just don't have a device do play it.

The Plus and Store is the same for all.
