Forums - Microsoft - Oddworld Creator: Microsoft “Not Interested” In Indies

http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2013/06/14/oddworld-creator-microsoft-not-interested-in-indies.aspx

Don't except any Oddworld games coming to any Xbox brand device anytime soon. Microsoft really need to change their policy in order to stay competitive with Sony and Nintendo.

Don’t follow the hype, follow the games

Here a little quote I want for those to keep memorize in your head for this coming next gen.

Then how come I find indie games on the 360 that are worth paying, worth playing, everyday?

Read the article. The guy refers to the 360 as well.

There are indies titles on the 360, but I heard it was a nightmare to get them on Xbox Live.

MS is not interested in games at all

It not that... the Indies devs are just pissed because MS didn't change their policies.

You've also heard developers that say they enjoyed working with MS.

There are also a lot of developers that don't say anything.

Even as bad as MS might be, the fact is Sony was worse. We heard developers say they didn't go with Sony because they didn't want to give up their IP.

Ultimately, if indie developers have a worthwhile game, Sony or MS will bend backwards to get that game on their platform. As they have done in the past and will continue to do.

Am I the only one who doesn't give a rats behind about indie games in general?
I liked Super Meat Boy, Fez and a few others, but compared to retail games? There seems to be so many indie games, and not many I ever got into/finished. Granted that was on the 360, there seems to be more on PC and only reason I'd get any is the $1 humble indie bundles.

Also how could anyone be surprised by their comment? Oddworld Strangers Wrath never came to the 360 despite massive outcries from the same guys.

It's just that simple.

No one has said that the tide has stopped but it is definitely turning.  More small developers are becoming frustrated with Microsoft all the time.  I know we have a few users here who plug their ears over this but we've had many industry people say that the policies and processes Microsoft has in place now are not nearly as developer friendly as the competition.  Are they still going to get a lot of games because Xbox is massive?  Of course.  It's just that they're missing out on others, or have become a "maybe" or "eventually" option after other platforms, where they once would have been first or second.

No arguments there, but I have a feeling this will change with the next generation.

some indies don't like ms, some indies love me.

So you're Microsoft all along? Now it all makes sense!
