1 out of 2?

1 to infinity.

I guess you were expecting Retro to make a new IP. Can't really blame you, so much missed potential.

It is sad. There is nothing about ambitious about a 2D platformer. 3D games are superior by default.

...

But seriously, a company's worth is measured by the 2D platformers they put out.

And the scale refers to days.

This will be the first game I buy for Wii U. I simply must to live up to the promise I made when the system was first announced - "I will buy it when Retro releases a game for it". Thankfully the game looks great and I've not yet forgotten the sense of satisfaction I felt upon beating DKCR.

I wouldn't be shocked if some people criticising Retro for doing another sidescroller... would really like for Retro to create a sidescolling Metroid game.

I think we all know the game is gonna be great and Donkey Kong is a bigger sales franchise so it made sense from a business stand point because of that but still they left alot of us fans out in the dark by not making something with a bigger "WOW" factor then that such as the next Metroid game or a brand new hardware limit pushing IP.

I was expecting metroid from Retro, but this is a must have game for me... DKCR was amazing, and this one seems to be way better...

The gameplay itself looks fantastic. Seriously, this game looks like so much fun. I do have a couple quibbles.

1. Graphics look like they could be pulled off on the Wii. Really lacks a crispness. Not overly impressed, I'm pretty sure this started as a Wii Game.

2. 3 hearts instead of 2 is a bummer. Returns best feature was it's difficulty, sad to see them make it easier.

3. It's not a new IP or Metroid.

On this trailer there are only 2 hearts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DueE8vJXpo8

The third heart is probably an item you buy in Cranky's house or something.
