You only need to connect online to the Xbox. Silver members can still get online, download demos, buy games, etc. If they get banned from Live I'm sure they'll just be treated like a Silver member and can't play online multiplayer.

What if it is your account that they banned? When banned you cannot connect to your Live account.

Accounts don't get banned, only the consoles.
So if anything you might have a worthless console then (which again is still a big IF), but the games that are tied to your account are still there.

It says right on the site that accounts can be permanently suspended.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

People get banned just for obtaining an early copy (Store breaking street dates) of a title and going online.

Even so, if you are found to be cheating online, they should not be able to take all of your games away from you.

I seriously hope this is a question that gets asked.

On XBL when you are found to be cheating online you never get banned from XBL, you get banned from the game you were cheating at.

Well, then they need to update their information because this is what it says on their site.

"Service suspension

Service suspensions are imposed because of inappropriate gameplay or system abuse. Inappropriate conduct includes these kinds of actions:

Inappropriate in-game behavior (scamming or cheating)

Attempts to manipulate Xbox LIVE services through network interference, feedback abuse, complaint abuse, or other system tampering

A service suspension completely blocks a member from being able to sign in to the Xbox LIVE service. The duration of the suspension depends on the frequency or severity of the offense. Temporary suspensions usually end at approximately the same time of day as when the suspension was issued."

Huh, interesting. I know that in both Halo (100% sure of this one) and COD (90% sure of this one) you get banned from the game, not the service. I suppose there probably are a few games where you get banned from XBL totally.

Although in the unlikely case of that I'm sure the Xbox will still do the automatic check up (unless you did something really bad) every 24 hours but you just won't be able to go on XBL.

Doesnt it seem pretty obvious that the x1 would have a different tos?  I mean, the 360 isnt a completely connected hardware platform like the x1 is.  It is pretty much guaranteed that the x1 bans would still allow people to online check and play their games, just not the multiplayer.

that being said, the sheer nature of the x1 would make it very hard to even get banned.  The drm'd nature of the software will prevent most piracy, which is one of the biggest reasons for getting banned.

Not that i really care if people that actually get banned from their account lose their access, because xbl sends out so many warnings and gives users so many oppurtunities to fix or change their behavior before they are banned that i have no sympathy for them. At all.

Get a new account?

But hey.  If your account gets banned, then you've just been.... *puts on glasses like Horatio/David Caruso*  Xboned.

That's not what happens on 360 and I doubt they'll change it.

When I did own a 360 and was on Live I never got banned, so was just assuming.  I didn't own a 360 for too long though and  only had Live for a month because I wasn't going to pay for it.

Ouch. That sounds painful. A lot of users will be BUTTHURT about them getting Xboned.

So in the end, Xbox One becomes a playable service that MS could take away from you once you don't do things their way.

There is your answer.  Kinect will answer your commands with, "The fuck you want, sub-human?  I don't take orders from trash."

I stopped reading the thread when I got to your message. No, seriously, I was eating some cookies and I almost died choking because of laughter.

Until they decide to draw up and display a new ToS this is all we have to work with.

Just figured it was a good topic for those who like to speculate on the "what ifs".

MS do three types of ban with X360...

* Ban for the MP game (for some MP cheats)
* Ban for XLIVE Account (fraud or cheats over the Live account)
* Ban for system (for pirated software, custom firmware, mods, etc)

In the first two you can create a new account but for the third you need to buy a new X360 to get online again but the offline stay normal.

Now with Xbone if you get a sytem ban you will only watch TV... and if you get a Live account ban you can create a new account but the old games won't register to new account because it only works with the old account... you will need to sell the game from you ban account to new account (is that possible?).

I guess it is like will work.
