Here we are, a few months before Sony and Microsoft release their new systems, misinformed and emotional as last gen. And the gen before that.
1/ MICROSOFT DRM POLICY IS THE WORST WE HAVE EVER SEEN - XBOX FANS SEEM ASLEEP
I am personnally shocked to see how few members of the XBOX fans on vgchartz have an issue with this. I always had the impression that the Xbox fans were more demanding of customer centric system. Sim City on PC was an example of how gamers can oppose the standards the industry would like to impose and it is a very recent, vivid example. In my opinion it is early enough to make such demands especially considering how few parternships Microsoft must have with TV content suppliers in Europe [my guess is that they have been contracting for a while in the US with content partners for a while and those bonds might take some time to die off]
2/ THE KINECT REQUIREMENT IS NONSENSE
Not only is the new kinect having an impact on the pricing of the system, it will require to be always connected to your XBOX ONE. If you are ok with having an accessory that looks like Big Brother's eye, works like Big Brother's eye, in the middle of you living room you are encouraging all other industry leaders to follow, and you are getting your kids used to a very weird future.
3/ SONY DESERVES TO WIN - STILL HAS SOME THINGS TO CLEAR UP
I am not switching sides, never had one to begin with and hopefully will never fall into any such trap. SONY is clearly the customer-centric winner against MS, still, something seem fishy to say the least :
a) Leaving the DRM policy up to publishers is not enough of an answer. To what extent are publisher requirement and data collection allowed ? It would only be honest for such a question to be raised.
b) The hardware advantage of the PS4 doesn't quite add-up. It is rumored that the PS4 launch was being planned ahead of XBOX ONE's, and still, the system is smaller and cheaper than the XBOX ONE (Kinect cannot cost 1/5 of the 500$), and still, the currently announced launch titles look better on the XBOX ONE [source: http://www.gamekult.com/actu/e3-2013-xbox-one-premier-contact-A109868.html ]
FINAL COMMENT
The reasons why I left this website remain. Just wanted to suggest to all that the fanboy is a self-destructive way of being that also affects the silent majority. It is because of sheep that we now all have smartphones, and it might be because of sheep that we will all feel stupid in our [smart-]living rooms.
