“I also believe you have to look at it on a global basis and not be territorial. If you look at it on a global basis then you would expect Sony to certainly pick up in the Japanese market.

“You only have to look at their performance in Russia over the last twelve months where there’s very little distribution for competing consoles, and in some of the Eastern Bloc countries to know that they will almost certainly prevail in those marketplaces.”

any data from these countries?

Yes! Another one that believes that life cycles are defined by technology and not by economics!

I'm pro sony but did not like that article. I do not agree with him. What he says makes sense on paper but people and trends are hard to predict.

That is VGChartz LONGEST review. And it's NOT Cute Kitten DS

funny how he says the 360 is built to last the generation and wont see a new model yet I have had mine repaired twice in the first 10 months of ownership.

How come I still have a NES thats fully working after 20 or so years but cannot get 12 months out of my 360?

also - the PS3 will do okay and probably will last 10 years but unfortunately the damage to the market ownership that the PS2 built up is done in the first couple of years, if the Wii lasts say 5 years and a Wii2 comes out thats fully backwards compatible with all of the Wii's games and offers more power so the mulitplat PS3 / 360 games could also be ported onto that going forward then thats a tough move to combat.

Als - IMO it was a smart move for MS to get the 360's technology so close to the PC cos it makes PS3 exclusives that much harder to justify for developers, most games get released on the PC and if you're gonna create a PC version and the 360's is not a million miles different then why not release a 360 version also.

This gen has so many new variables that I dont think the old "the PS3 will be around for 10 years so it'll do great" argument is that valid anymore.
