Forums - Nintendo - Has Capcom saved Nintendo?

I have never seen Capcom as a big Nintendo supporter. They have helped, but they are not as significant as people make them to be.

I disagree. They developed Zelda games on GBC/GBA. Resident Evil Remake/Zero exclusive plus RE4/Viewtiful Joe timed exclusive on GC. Tatsu vs Capcom, MH Tri, RE Chronicles on Wii. RE Mercenaries/Revelations, Street Fighter 4, MH3G/4 on 3DS. So far theyve only done Revelations/Tri HD for Wii U but id be surprised if they didmt have a couple exclusoves foe it in the next year or two.

Nintendo saved Megaman.

Make a 2D Mega Man Exclusive to Wii U
Bring Viewtiful Joe Back
New Breath of Fire.
Then we can talk.

Sakurai saved Megaman if anything. If Mega man wasn't in smash he would be largley irrelevant right now..not the other way around

and sure Capcom and nintendo are helping each other....Now get games like Deep down on Wii U capcom.

First, how is Monster Hunter timed exclusive? MH3 has remained exclusive to Nintendo consoles. I don't see any reason to believe that MH4 will change that. Especially with the Vita still selling like shit.

Second, I'm SUPER stoked for Mega Man to be in Smash. But how is that saving Nintendo? People were going to buy that game regardless. He's just one awesome inclusion.

Also, I wouldn't count the RE games they've put on 3DS, and the remake on Wii U that's also out on everything else, as RE helping Nintendo that much.

Sorry, I just don't see it.

Monster Hunter is a timed exclusive? First Ive heard of it...

Now Nintendo just needs the same support for Wii U and were set.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

hm.. well, MH3 released in a way on PS3 http://www.vgchartz.com/game/51332/monster-hunter-portable-3rd-hd-ver/ - not completely the same game and only available in jpn though

No Nintendo did. Nintendo can't rely on any third party to save them.

Like I said, they have helped and I wish they continue to support Nintendo but they are not a huge supporter. What they have produced on the Wii  may look impressive but that's not saying much when everyone hardly tried. I think they will continue to support the Wii U but it's not going to be much.

Last year there was nothing releasing early in the year. Capcom gave us Resident Evil on 3DS.

Resident Evil got older gamers interested in the Cube for a while.

Monster hunter pushed the 3DS in Japan, and is about to do it again.

Mega Man was a megaton at E3 this year.

They have helped Nintendo the most out of all the third party companies. Do you think the 3DS in Japan would be so big without Monster Hunter?

@Bolded Yes. Animal Crossing + Luigi's Mansion along with other nintendo first party titles proved it.

I wouldnt say RE got all the older players to get it, just a small minority of them. Pokemon X/Y will make RE and MH look like child's play when it is released worldwide this year.

Anyways RE did help I do admit but I wouldnt give Capcom full credit, there were other factors such as the price cut, the new model, first party hype and releases , other third party titles and those odd games that keep selling like hotcakes.

Anyways, Mega Man was OK I guess but Solid Snake + Sonic combo for Brawl was more megaton imo ;p.

Edit: Not saying Capcom didnt do anything , they were part of the process but Nintendo did most of the saving imo.

I think you are not giving enough credit to what monster hunter did for the 3ds in japan. You seem to forget that the 3ds was stagnant over there till it was announced that a monster hunter game was coming, not to mention the promise of monster hunter 4. Those announcements most definately helped push the 3ds over the edge in japan. Comparing luigi to monster hunter is silly as well, believe me monster hunter 4 will outsell that game by at least a ratio of 4:1. Yes nintendo releasing games like animal crossing would have helped eventually, but monster hunter coming out when it did made the big difference.
