Forums - Nintendo - Why people assume that making a new Donkey Kong is lazy or lacks effort?

Now there's a waste of time and resources.

LOL. Almost 5.5 million sales at full price :D.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

I think it's just a combination of the inevitable come down from the usual pie-in-the-sky pre-E3 expectations and the general love that many core gamers have for Metroid.

I'll admit I had a little pang of disappointment as soon as I realised it wasn't going to be Metroid but I think it looks great and I'll be surprised if it doesn't end up being a great game. I think there will be plenty of hype for this game by the time the release rolls around. Not to mention that this is commercially a much better option than Metroid.

Plus, this isn't Retro's only game, I'll put money on it.

Because Nintendo has a creativity crisis. All we get are Mario 3D, Mario Bros, Zelda, Pikmin, DK, Yoshi, Kart, Smash...
They even recycle old games of these franchises. WW remake, Super Mario 3D looks like a Mario Bros, seriously, after playing SM Galaxy 1 and 2, 2 of the best games ever made, this is a BUMMER.

I would say the same about Playstation if we'd only get Gran Turismo, Crash, Spyro, Syphon Filter, Twisted Metal and Medievil since 1995. But we don't. That's the difference.

Yeah, as playstation fans you also gets Uncharted 1, Uncharted 2, Uncharted 3, as well as SSB clones and Mario Kart clones. That's cool.

The thing is that Nintendo don't have creativity crisis. They ALWAYS re-invent their franchises. Just take a look at the 3D Marios; no one is the other one alike. The same goes for Zelda. THAT is creativity. Take something familiar and make it new. But I have to agree with you; RIGHT NOW it seems as if they can't come up with something new. I made athread about that yesterday, saying that the only NEW things we saw was MK8 and X.

And, having spoken dialogues doesn't make a game BETTER. Certain games don't NEED the voice acting. But I agree, Nintendo should really think long and hard about what they should do with Zelda in this regard...

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

For example, give Aonuma an extended paid holiday, and get Tetsuya Takahashi on directorial duties.

hehe good point. But honestly i think the side scroller renaissance that followed the wii is over. I think that that's why new super mario bros u didn't become the system seller nintendo fans wanted, and the same reason NSMB2 will never reach the heights of it's predecessor even if the 3ds sales are around those of the DS. The genre is stale because last gen we got hit by a wave of good side-scrollers on wii, and i really doubt a psgamer/xboxgamer /casual will buy a wii u for a sidescroller. Either way i'm getting it, i just don't expect it to sell the wii u and sell that well itself because it doesn't really wow an individual who doesn't love 2d.

Is it wrong that I just read this in Jabba the Hut's voice?

Probably. Even though it's a quote from Reyn, they're actually about level in actual wisdom.

However, Reyn wins for not looking all like something I'd fire out of my nostril. And he is so bro'.

2009. A popular gaming website tells everybody that Nintendo is lazy for making a 2D entry in a platforming series, even going as far to assume the game is simply a DS port. People swallow it up.

You can still see the remnants of that attitude today, because it gives people an easy out.

VGChartz

I don't get it either. It looks real good and previews have said the same...

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.
