Because it's Retro and made Metroid Prime, a revolutionary, but less than expected sales game.

Attach the word "revolutionary" with Retro and you see why where the disappointment is coming from...

I was one of the few that tried to not think this way. Reason why I'm unaffected. ;)

Donkey Kong looks awesome, and I'm definitely going to get it, but the announcement of a new Metroid game would have made my day! Even a 2D Metroid would have blown my mind. Speaking of which, I thought we would at least see the 3DS get a Metroid announcement. Oh well. Maybe the next Nintendo direct....

Since then the Donkey Kong series hasn't gone to new scales and I've been waiting for so long to see what's next for DK. DKCR was great because it bringed a lot of nostalgia but I can't get excited for another one because ultimately DKCR didn't go in any new directions.

I think Retro has the ressources and the potential to bring DK to the next level but they won't, apparently.

Donkey Kong 64 was awful.  That disaster can sit on the trash heap of history.

Ok, maybe it wasn't that bad.  But it wasn't good either.  A collect-a-thon where you have to cover the same ground 5 times over to get everything?  Terrible design.

You must be mistaken.  White is the new minority.  We don't reproduce fast enough to keep our majority status.

Missing is a very good talent to have. According to The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy, one can fly by simply falling and "missing" the ground.
