Why people assume that making a new Donkey Kong is lazy or lacks effort?

Since then the Donkey Kong series hasn't gone to new scales and I've been waiting for so long to see what's next for DK. DKCR was great because it bringed a lot of nostalgia but I can't get excited for another one because ultimately DKCR didn't go in any new directions.

I think Retro has the ressources and the potential to bring DK to the next level but they won't, apparently.

Ok, maybe it wasn't that bad.  But it wasn't good either.  A collect-a-thon where you have to cover the same ground 5 times over to get everything?  Terrible design.
