Forums - Nintendo - (Have some crow!) Nintendo showed incredible, hardcore, mature games and yet you complain about 3D Mario?

If I wanted mature "hardcore" games, I'd buy a Playstation. I never asked for mature games from Nintendo. I asked for something new, whether in the form of a new IP or innovations to an old one. They somewhat delivered on Mario Kart, but I was so hyped for the new Mario platformer that it's unveiling...unhinged me.

Besides, we've already seen Project X(although it does look even more awesome here)

I don't think four-player co-op has been done in a 3D Mario game before, so there's that.

I am pleased just because the fact I know their games are always great... I expected more right, but since the directs are happening everyother month I am not to bothered atm...

Though I admit that it sickens me a little to think that Nintendo would hold onto announcements for future Directs.

That seems like a bad plan.

If they hadn't panic-announced most of their E3 lineup months ago, don't you think this E3 presentation would have gone over much, much better? Shoot, just reserving X and Mario 3D World probably would have gone a long way towards that goal (for the forums, that is).

Maybe for X, it would have been a nice surprise.

But everyone expected a great Mario 3D and we have a 3DS port

Don't know. X seemed to be a panic reaction after the Wii U launch. Could've definitely reserved Mario Kart, though.

I guess, but that's not really a game changing element like the Sunshines Supersoaker and Galaxy's gravity, or even Mario 64's 3D. Don't get me wrong, the game looks okay(definitely better than NSMBU), but it's a disappointment as Mario's first 3D title on Nintendo's brand new system. From the looks of things, it doesn't even have the tight jump physics from Mario's other 3D titles, but rather the floatiness of NSMB and SM3DLand.

Ugh. I would rather Nintendo play it safe than try out any other ideas like FLUDD. Not that I hated Sunshine. I would just prefer not to go down that route again.

As for the jump physics, that varies from game to game. Each character in this entry has his or her own distinct jump, so I'm not very concerned about that.

Heh, I loved everything about Sunshine, including FLUDD(Was it really called that? It's been so long.) And yeah, it is a bit hard to comment on the jump physics when there are so many characters and I have yet to play the game. Guess I'll have to try it at my Bestbuy, if they have it.

When you screw your most important flagship title, you can't expect nice reactions.

Mario Kart?

Mario Kart is the best selling title, but it's not the most critically acclaimed and polished series. (Even if MK8 looks amazing.)

I'm talking about 3D Mario.

Why not give it the benefit of the doubt?

Nintendo hasn't earned the benefit of the doubt. Galaxy and especially 3D Land were not the pinnacles of 3D platforming design and...

...I can't do this. :D
