I'm loving it, nice reminder of why I love Nintendo... that said 9/10.

Heh, I'm not disagreeing with that. As people were talking about it thought I'd tag along and see what was going on, then thought everyone would be taken back to the same screen and the tourney would begin proper. Didn't seem to happen that way. That doesn't mean I didn't go and check what happened to be ready for tonight; just it didn't happen as I'd predicted.

Regardless we're trying to discuss possible fixes now so in future we can avoid a similar situation.

So yeah, one possible fix for the future is one person; the host of that tourney (NinPie, Rol, myself etc.) enters the tourney when it begins, posts here and then everyone goes to their friends list and jumps in as well. That way everyone should be in the same group and it won't lead to splintered races like this one (it's what I tried be joining NinPie but he was in a small group also).

Does this sound reasonable to everyone?

That was pretty much my above suggestion. At least if we all go to one person and join them we don't run the risk of having multiple groups on the go at once.

Yes, I know what's going on. NintendoPie and Conegamer claimed thread rights for tournaments and the latter couldn't even be bothered to help setting things up. I tried to help NintendoPie, but he threw things overboard and did forego to make a clear announcement post, so now you are left with a mess. Not just because it was insufficiently organized, but also because many participants have no clue how the whole thing works either.

If only I were running it, it woulda went as smoothly as my day 1 tourney did! Just sayin!

Suggestions for next time!

-Use friend rooms

-Divide participants into groups and designate a host for each

-Have computers fill up the empty slots so points are distrubted the same even if people drop.

Ah yes, that was me... I saw you say let's wait for some other people, and I wanted to say 'OK' but managed to set the counter going instead. So - there was just two of us, sorry about that!
