external HDD no problem if required, can operate exactly like an increased internal drive.

M$ confirmed that? If that is true good for you people.

Yeah it's true for the Xbox One : Only problem I can see so far is if the Xbox drive fail, I'm pretty sure that your console needs service.

If your drive fail on PS4, just replace it yourself and your console is good to go

I'm planning to put a SSD in that PS4 btw...

But those are too expensive I think.   I know data transfer is way faster; but I dont have the money :0

Yes.  So buy a sleek little 1TB external (cheap as chips) and have 1.5tb to go at.

Good. ;)

haha! I never checked those kind of stuff for the XBO since I am not buying it; but to be sincere I tought that considering the DRM, that maybe they went even forward and you could only use the HDD in the console to store games.  They dont want people to spread the games; and with an external HDD that is quite easy; but considering you still need to connect online to authenticate; I guess you could use whatever you want as storage.

The HDD in the console is not upgradable since most probably; as it has the OS it can have the keys to hack it.  Just I wild theory of course.

Except it adds another box outside the console. But it does have the advantage of not losing everything on the current harddrive. Still I'd personally rather the upgradable harddrive.

wont that double the price of the console?  It really isnt neccessary.

It certainly isn't necessary. But the option to do it is there. Always a plus to have options,

Why is this relevant with this thread?

Excellent news. I was genuinely baffled when MS said the XBOne HDD wasn't upgrade-able. What's the logic in that? You would have thought they would have wanted to at least sell proprietary HDDs.

Why selling proprietary HDDs when you can sell proprietary full console instead ?
