I think the real solution is to practice and get better, not change characters. ^_^ |
Totally agree, Ike can do a lot of damage, but most of his moves are pretty solidly telegraphed, so as long as you make sure to anticipate the less telegraphed moves, it's almost impossible to be beaten by him 1 on 1
If you want a solid strategy to train, my suggestion is go into training mode in the single player, adn first turn the speed down to 1/4. Use this to practice the timing for your moves; understanding which of your moves can be pulled off the fastest, seeing which moves have teh most knockback and understanding how early you have to start your moves in order to be able to have them execute at a the proper placement.
One you get these moves down, you slowly increase the speed until you're fighting at 1.5x the normal speed. You can adjust the CPU level in the main menu. I've found that a level 9 and 1.5x speed can usually give me at least as much trouble as going up agaisnt a real person, but by training at teh 1.5x speed, when I go back to the normal speed, the battle feels much slower, and you have more time to recognize and read moves that people are telegraphing.
I'm still confirming one last thing myself, but I think that if you set the CPU to level 9 in training mode, and set them to attack, they'll actually get more difficult to fight with each successive victory against them. i did kirby vs Pit for kicks and found that I'd constantly win the first 3 or 4 conflicts, but the everything after that would be completely neck and neck.
