How do I turn the game on the hard mode? Not the SSE, I already have that on hard mode. I want to be able to fight against computer at a higher level.

 There's a little level number to the right of the player, in the character selection screen. 9 is the hardest level.

the official answer for why random brawl doesn't work is that the servers are swamped. for the first time I just got to actually use it though. It worked great. I did three 3 man free for alls in a row just now. I pwned all three with the big triple D. He is the bluebird of happiness....and MISERY! Oh yeah, also it didn't lag at all playing those matches. I get lag with certain people with the Friend matches, but those random ones were smooth as silk.

I'm eatin some pizza right now. But I'll be on to play again in a minute. I wish people with update their damn friend lists. I have like 8 people and everyone else just says "waiting to register". I have like 40 people from Rhubangs topic and that's all that have actually put me in their Friend list. And I'm at like the top of that frikkin list in Rhubang's topic!

Hey everybody!!! Guess what!?!?!? BRAWL IS LIKE THE BEST GAME EVAR!!!!!! Too bad I can only play Gimic300's Brawl. :-/ I played as Zelda the most!!!! I even played as fox once or twice!! and I got the smash ball before Bacon. About 2 weeks until my Wii and Brawl are fixed!

I'm getting a U.S. copy as soon as I'm not swamped with homework. Should be just a few more days. I'm getting the Brawl Itch. When I do I'm gonna have a new friend code, and then I'm gonna re-organize my friend code thread, and I'm wondering what kind of system to use. I might just re-launch the thread with all the codes from the old thread. There's more than 64 Brawlers here at VGC, and I'm sure we each want a few codes left for friends in meatspace... The old thread turned into madness really fast, and people started their own lists and didn't pay attention to the original list. That sucks for vagabond. It was a simple enough system. If you're on that list, add everybody else on that list. But it didn't work and people are running out of slots and not adding each other, etc... MADNESS!

So here's one idea I have. Let me know what you think. I put all our names in alphabetical order (or chronological again), and each person adds the 16 people above their name and the 16 people below their name, so you don't have to add the whole list. This way each person gets 32 friends from the Brawl FC thread and has 32 more slots to spend on their own VGC buddies and real life buddies and whatnot. I'd also like to list everybody's time zones in the list too, so outside of your guaranteed 32 VGC random buddies, you can pick the rest individually through comments or PMs based on similar time zones, or if you're a night owl you can pick somebody a few hours behind you.

How's this sound?

Also, that way, with the rotating friend list, if you end up playing with somebody 10 slots under you, they might be joined by somebody 10 slots under them, so you'll actually have a potential net of more than 32 friends, depending on how often and when people play.
