Nah...the need for developers to use physical medium to distribute their product is quickly coming to an end. Let the horse and buggy whip era come to an end.

They really (and I mean REALLY) have to make clear and evident any and all game related benefits for consumers for their approach. If anything, that's the biggest mistake they've made, as the general response is a loss of consumer rights with no benefits for consumers.
I think the most direct benefit that would win some consumer's back? Noticeably lower game prices on the Xbox One than the PS4. Steam is able to do this and thus we hear little to any complaints about the severe DRM of Steam purchases.
They have quite a PR challenge ahead of them. Hopefully they'll come up with something noteworthy, as they had quite a good press conference overall with some great looking exclusives coming.

Second funniest thing I've seen today apart from the Sony trolling M$ video.
Wii FC: 6440 8298 7583 0720 XBOX GT: WICK1978 PSN: its_the_wick 3DS: 1676-3747-7846 Nintendo Network: its-the-wick
Systems I've owned: Atari 2600, NES, SNES, GBColor, N64, Gamecube, PS2, Xbox, GBAdvance, DSlite, PSP, Wii, Xbox360, PS3, 3DS, PSVita, PS4, 3DS XL, Wii U
The best quote I've seen this year:

So where are you guys reading the x1 wont support used games? Cuz everything ive read is that its up to the publisher just like sony. The only diff is the x1 only uses preferred retailers.
And theres a way around the whole letting a friend borrow your games if that really bothers you

this right here.
..but i saw a statement a while back that xbone was architected to load from a hardrive:
“With our modern architecture, Xbox One games will load more quickly, will be always accessible from the cloud, and there is no physical limit to the size or scope of the content provided,” Microsoft writes in a new post to the Xbox Wire blog."
PR to be certain and by no means xbone can't run straight from discs but it makes me wonder if there aren't assumptions about game installs baked into the hardware that would make backing out of their policies difficult.
I hope so. I've pre ordered my PS4 and will probably end up picking up a Wii U sometime next year when Wii U starts getting a lot of good games coming to it.

They got arrogant and thought gamers would just have to adapt and get used to it like they are used to paying for Xbox Live. |
Well Sony fans will have to get used to that to since PS Plus is required to play multiplayer on PS4.
they wont. microsofts vision for the industry is clear, they wont back down from this, specially without even seeing how this will effect their sales

They can't changed anything as it's deeply ingrained into everything they want to do with the X1. (Installing, carrying library around ect)
They just have to do the best they can with the mistakes they've made.
I also think they don't care about winning WW (going toe to toe with Sony as a gaming machine at the same price and PS4 still would have won out)
