Forums - PC - Feeling self-conscience about my rig...

My rig is over 2 years old now and I have to admit, I feel like my system is lacking compared to the Steamrollers and Haswells of today as well as the 7000/700 series GPUs. My question is...is my rig crap now? I mainly play StarCraft 2 and it runs it flawlessly, I'm just wondering, am I do for an upgrade?

CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1035T 3.1GHz OC
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6850
RAM: Crucial Ballistix 16 GB DDR3 1600MHz
HDD: 1TB 7200RPM + 1TB iomega external
OS: Win7 64-bit
PSU: XFX Pro 850W Core Edition
Cooler: Corsair H60

You're do, you're rig is doodoo.

They can't all be as big as mine.

pftt, tsk tsk. My rig can almost run minecraft at high settings! xD, well my laptop does alot better though.

no need to upgrade because your system might not run everything on ultra settings. just enjoy your PC and there is no need to spend hunders of dollars just so it can run games that apparently you arent playing on ultra settings

Sc2 isn't intensive at all! You're fine if that's basically all you play, Sc2 practically plays no matter how crappy you're rig is.

cpu and gpu aren't exactly top of the line anymore, but it really depends on what you want to do going forward.

I mean if it does what you want it to do flawlessly, then there's no point in spending money on making it do the exact same thing it was doing before the upgrade. Then again, hardly anyone uses that logic, myself included.

Yes, I see a problem. Your Starcraft II needs an upgrade into League of Legends.

Seriously though, if it does what you want then it doesn't need changed. Only thing that would make a usability difference to you would be an SSD, even a 120GB one would be so much better.

Pff tell that to my rig Lulz (In my sig). I will be upgrading my card soon.

Your rig is great in all fronts if you just play SC2. Your CPU & RAM is perfectly fine. If you want to improve overall snappiness, look into an SSD.

Your GPU could look into an upgrade for future games. If you cant hold out for AMD's 8000 cards, then you cant go wrong with a 7870, 7950 or Nvidia GTX770.

That's pretty much it. No need to feel too self conscious about your rig at all.

Edit: You have socket AM3+, so maybe (although not necessary) Look into AMD's Vishera FX line (Piledriver). You will want FX83xx+ minimum to make anything worth it.
