I think that they should expand their current studios as well. That way they can work on handheld and console games games at the same time without one project leeching off resources from the other.

They're making another one in Japan, it opens at the end of this year.

But I agree, they should make even more new ones.

I didn't know they were opening a new one this year. But I agree, given that they have to support both a handheld and a home console (though their handhelds seem to have pretty decent third party support - DS & 3DS), I think they need more studios, whether they be first or second party. I think the deal with Platinum Games is good, and SEGA's Sonic exclusivity is good as well, so more of that would be good as well.

Bah!

I think they went with a partnership strategy, but theres no way to say no to more studios and therefore more games. The biggest barrier is the nintendo quality control. Its very tight so i think they feel unconfortable working with studios outside japan.

I think they also need to work to release more games outside of Japan. I know that's something they stressed in their last investor meeting. Obviously not all games would work well for western audiences, but even niche titles would make software gaps more bearable...

Bah!

I don't think they need more studios, I think they need to find a way to speed up development.

Take for example Naughty Dog that made this generation 3UC games and TLoU. That's 4games. Meanwhile Retro Studio did MP3 and DKCR that should'nt take nearly as much time and effort as a UC game. Same thing with Santa Monica, GoW:A launched a few month ago and there is already rumors that they will unveil something at E3 this year (rumors so we will have to wait if true. If true it will seriously strengthen my point). Now back to Nintendo, we are STILL waiting for Pikmin 3. Why did this game take so long and WHY could'nt they manage to make it for the launch window?! Skyward Sword was great, one of my favorite game of all time imo, but while playing it I could'nt see a single reason on why did this game take over 5years to make, they had to seriously had trouble to master that motion control cause that is the only explanation possible.

Final Ultimate Legendary Earth Power Super Max Justice Future Miracle Dream Beautiful Galaxy Big Bang Little Bang Sunrise Starlight Infinite Fabulous Totally Final Wonderful Arrow...FIRE! - Wonder-Red (The Wonderful101)

A solid point - do you think the transition to HD development for Wii U slowed them down, since it was new for them? I think it put them at a disadvantage since Wii wasn't HD so when it came time for Wii U they were behind the learning curve, so to speak...

Bah!

Yes!

Yes, more western studios like Retro.

I think they should buy a few new studios, expand some of the current ones and continue doing exclusive deals with 3rd parties. This should help them decrease the amount of droughts and sustain themselves.

Im hoping Retro continues to expand and become 2 separate teams, one to continue Metroid and the other to make an open world western RPG. Buy and expand Shin'en to make the next Star Fox or F-Zero. Continue partnership with Platinum for another new ip and lend them an existing ip. Also continue partnerships with Sega and Namco and add some more like Capcom, Tecmo, Square, Ubi Soft.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

I think Ubisoft would make a good partner for Nintendo. They made a killing with the Just Dance & Rabbids series on Wii, so their early support of Wii U isn't at all surprising. I think Nintendo should have perhaps paid $$$ to keep Rayman a Wii U exclusive (it would have been a great game in March for the system).
